We did our first camping trip with our granddaughters. Stayed in Cedar loop which has electric and allow dogs. The camp sites are well layout/spaced and maintained. The campsite pad are very level for a campground that on a mountain. Keep in mind unless your in the beach area you will be either going up or down hills. The restrooms are outdated but clean and there was plenty of hot water for showering.

Amazing during the week, but way overcrowded on the weekends. The water is clean and perfect for young kids. The sand area is small but there is ample grass to set up a blanket or chairs on as well. On the weekends, cars will start lining up at the entrance hours before the park opens. We arrived at 8am and spent over an hour in line to enter the park. There has to be a better way to deal with the traffic and volume of visitors…. Tent camping at the campground was a breeze. We stayed in the Birch loop. The sites were clean and everyone was friendly. I wish the sites were spread just a bit further apart for more privacy, but we also loved being close enough to the lake to walk the camp trails to the beach area.

Great area to camp for beginners or folks solo camping. You can get firewood and the camp office for 6 dollars a bundle and ice as well. There are a few gazebos by the lake for grilling or events and when you enter the canpgrounds theres a water station right up front. Fairly close to stores like home depot and giant if you forget something. We stayed in ash loop and had a great time.

Worth every single moment! This is the perfect place for a date, a birthday party, hiking, group activities, or just some peaceful, reflective time to be in a clean and beautiful place. This entire park is incredibly well maintained from the trails to the campsites, from the lake to all of the eating and event areas. My four-year-old son, speaking the wisdom of the ages, as we hiked on the trails and sat looking at the lake told me, "this is a beautiful and peaceful place, I feel so calm here." With the world we are facing right now, this is the place you want to come to to get away and just spend time taking care of yourself, or celebrating be with family and friends. Absolutely beautiful. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Yes but there are only one adult shower and one handicap accessible shower for men so on busy weekends that I went I had to wait for A shower there were 3 guys in front of me !!! Need to add more shower stalls in the bathhouses !!!!
And
And
Yes, on Saturday and Sundays. The best time to go is Monday through Friday. If you decide to go on the weekend be there by 7:30 am latest. There will already be a line. The line at time starts at 3-4 am for holidays. Weekends a little later. The people sleep in the car. Great park. We try to go every 2 weeks. Have fun. Namaste
Yes it is. Only Visa and master card.
Greenbrier State Park. This park has the following pet access rules: Pets are allowedin the day-use area and lake from October 1 to April 30. Pets are allowed in the Cedar and Dogwood camp loops Pets are allowed on trails outside day-use area (access from outlying parking areas)
Yes is closed for swimming
No boats/motors, they have paddle boats to rent last I heard
Yes, at the age over 16 yo MD requires you to be licensed for non tidal water to fish greenbrier lake... Its cheap and helps ypu learn the rules and regulations. Its good for 365 days. Fyi no one checks - don't tell nobody I told you. But I do strongly encourage buying the license to improve park and DNR funding. The prices are very fair.
Not sure about the camper, however, you can bring everything else you asked about
Many hotels in Hagerstown
The campground is not open year round. It closes on the 1st of November and then opens on April 1st. The bath houses are not heated well enough to let it open all the time.
The park is open; however, it fills up quickly so make sure you come early.
I bring my cooler. No problems.
Yes
Yes but not less than ten miles.... Frederick is close and it offers many options
You pay for mostly 8 years and above I believe
Go with your food
IM CURRENTLY A CAMPGROUND HOST AT GREENBRIER. IM SORRY, BUT FIRE WORKS OF ANY KI ND ARE NOT PERMITTED AT Greenbrier SP.
Each cabin has a large table and a grill to make food, there are bathrooms.
I would think about an hour and a half
No boats only picnic areas . You can bring your own boat electric or wind Is open now
No just wading....
Picnic area yes, camping area no
Well, the truth is, I can't tell him ... but I think, no ... the times that I have, no person has walked with dogs ...
Yes, There is a fee to enter the park. $3 per person Maryland resident and $5 per person out of state person.
Little swimmers are allowed butbut not a trainer I hope u decide to go its really beautiful the atmosphere
You may want to call prior to going, they tend to hit capacity quick.
You have to call a few days before, and there, they will tell you if, they are still available, for the day, and the time that you want ...
I didn't see any availability for kayaks. However, they do have paddle boat rentals for $15/30 minutes, or $25/hour
No id required but the price has gone up it's now $5 per person on the weekend for in-state.
Merylan's residents are 3 dollars and another state 6 or 7
No you are not supposed to. The water is cooler when you pass the rope and its deeper too.
Although the website lists $3 for MD residents, they did charge my wife and I the full $5 each for entry. Nearby Cunningham Falls State Park only charged $3. Both of these visits occurred within the last month so be prepared. Would highly recommend arriving by 10am if you want to spend the afternoon at the lake as they have been quickly reaching capacity and denying access to the next car in line until someone leaves.
If you intend to use Greenbrier or other state parks multiple times, then you could opt for an annual pass. If I'm not mistaken it allows for all occupants the vehicle to enter a state park for free. The Maryland Park Service Passport can be purchased for $75 for Maryland residents or for $100 for out-of-state residents. The Passport is valid for one year from the month of purchase. It may seem like a high price, but if your Family of 8 were to use it 4 times or more, then you've already made your money. Just a thought.
From their website: https://dnr.maryland.gov/publiclands/Pages/western/Greenbrier/Day-Use.aspx Day-use Service Charges Memorial Day Weekend-Labor Day - weekdays $3 per person, weekends/holidays $5 per person Labor Day-Memorial Day Weekend - $3 per vehicle May and September Weekends - $3 per person. Note: Out-of-state residents add $2 to all day-use service charges.
Free entry for military $7 out of state $5 in state per person kids in car seats are free
Yes
They might im not sure
Yes.
Pets are not allowed 😔
Swim is mostly for kids but that doesn't mean that you can not get a splash as well, there are many common areas each with a grill, just make sure that you bring charcoal and trash bags, since you are required to take it with you at the end, white sands are really nice, bring a hammock and you will have a relaxing time Weekdays prices per person $3 for Maryland residents, and $5 on weekends and Non MD residents. Its worth it
Some are they have! There is for woking in you don't need reserved but you have to get there early because is nice place to have fun with family
Don't know about the 4th, but this park is very popular. Summer weekends you have to get there early or you won't get in.
Try calling the Roger station. I think it opens at 7:00 am, good luck.
Yes, it is open every day from 6 am until sunset.
The beach is usually open but if it's not it will be posted outside. Also there is some nice trails and a play area for the kids and plenty of places to barbeque and relax.
Lifeguards are on duty at the swimming area of the lake from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Yes. It is already open.
Sunrise .... I believe
Late as at 10 o'clock in the morning. It's very nice and there are picnic tables and it can be barbeque too.
Not yet. Water level is too low and only wading until the damm is fixed
There is a website for Md state parks and an info number 1-800-830-3974
Well, the park is open most days but the lake has been lowered this year for repairs so the lake is for "wading" only.
It is supposed to be open until the end of October
Camp sights are usually available but the day area does fill up. Your best bet would be to call the park.
8 am
They drained around 4 foot of water out of the lake a while ago so it was a bit shallower. As I see it the lake isn't extremely deep but you should use a life vest if you are a weak or non swimmer.
They take reservations, but typically always have a camping spot available.
Yes, though they dont't accept the Discover card.
Around $40
Not positive, but I would say at least 18, to b safe
The kids can wade. Unfortunately the lake had to be lowered because of a damn breach.
Entrance to the park is $5.00 per person, $7.00 per person if you are out of state. In the winter months there is a collection box to put your fee in.
Yes, you can fish. Store may sell worms. The lake has been drained somewhat because of dam damage.
It's open everyday from 8am till dusk, it's just half full. They had to drain it to fix the dam. They will refill it for next season
Officially, according to the park's website, the lake has been drained below safe swimming levels in order to conduct repairs to the dam, and it'll be this way all season. If the water level is noticeably higher because of the rain, it's likely that park staff will drain it again. Wading is still allowed through the end of the season.
The park is open 8:00 a.m. - sunset. Day Use Service Charges: Memorial Day Weekend-Labor Day - weekdays $3 per person, weekends/holidays $5 per person; Labor Day-Memorial Day Weekend $3 per vehicle; May and September weekends $3 per person. Out-of-state residents add $2 to all day use service charges. Senior citizens with a Golden Age Pass and visitors with a DNR Universal Disability Pass are admitted free. Children in car seats are admitted free. Greenbrier often fills to capacity on summer weekends and holidays. If the park fills, all additional visitors will be turned away (no exceptions). To ensure entry, all party members are encouraged to arrive at the park early.
On September 03 it would be the last day that would be open to the public so that
