This is a great piece of Co history. The hiking was good and beautiful but the path to the old mill from Vl parking seems outstanding for mountain bikes. Plus it's not crowded!!!

I loved this park. I’m from Texas just visiting Colorado and came here to hike. From the minute I got there I met Melissa who was awesome! She told me about the area, the cool things to do, good food spots to try while on my trip. She told me about this beautiful waterfall, and told me I should definitely try to do it. I also met Mr. Paul who was a very kind and I had a moment to speak with him. The park is beautiful. I was in awe every step of the way. This was challenging but so worth it. There’s the outlook which will blow you away and humble you by it’s grandness and beauty. The waterfall is just peaceful. I learned some new things about myself on this trip and will definitely be back when I come back to Colorado.

Beautiful, lots of trails in this park. We took our young kids on a walk to the Davis Ponds. The trail was easy: mostly flat, smooth, wide, and a jogging stroller rolled right along. Kids loved playing/exploring near the ponds and stream. Still frozen (thin ice) as of April 9.

There’s something for everyone here. A large variety of trail options to meet any skill level or interest. Whether you are bringing a horse, a bike, your hiking shoes, or your running shoes, you’ll be in great shape. Red Rock provides you with awesome 360 views and is often overlooked because the sign makes it sound like you will need to rock climb. While that is one option, you can also scramble to the top. Check it out!

Highly probable of ice and or mud right now. Worth a hike yea
There is a really nice spot overlooking Pike's Peak at one end of the Davis Pond Trail, which is a fairly short, flat trail.
Hi Hannah, yes the park is open from 6am - 10pm and no, there is no swimming in the ponds.
Yes, there are fish in Davis Ponds and Elk Falls Pond. Both Davis Ponds are stocked once a month during the summer season.
Their Facebook page usually has trail conditions on it.
Thanks for inquiring Ryan. Staunton does not allow campfires in their campsites regardless of the county status on fire restrictions or bans. We do allow propane or gas stoves that can be turned off and don’t emit an ember We do provide grills at our group picnic area, which during the stage 1 restrictions Jefferson county is currently under allows you to have a Wood or charcoal fire. Enjoy your camping trip
Reserve a site via Colorado parks and wildlife. Open year round. All of the sites are hike in (no more than 1/2 mile) Best: Spruce loop 11 (closest to trailhead), 17, 18 (overlooks the mountain) and 19 (good for kids and kid climbing).
No. The website says no boats or watercraft are allowed on the ponds and I don't recall the streams being anywhere near big enough to canoe on them.
Yes, but it isn't open yet. They are building a roof over part of it. Construction always takes longer than is estimated.
They have a special program with powered wheelchairs you need to call them to get additional information
I live about 3 miles from there. Hazy from smoke limiting visibility to about 10 miles but no smell.
You can type in the area and air quality in your browser and there are a bunch of services that measure in real time. I usually check a couple before going.
Open 6am - 10pm daily
Go on the website or call the number. They will know the best way.
Yes and they have a track chair program
No playground, just beautiful nature! Plenty to explore!
I believe 10pm.
There are trash cans and restrooms at some parking areas.
I live close to Staunton park, we still get too much light polution in this area. I believe serious star gazers go to Guenella pass.
Yes, and they are well stocked. Davis Pond is great, hike up to the top and see how that dinner water flow before the damn.
Staunton State Park is located in Colorado’s Wildfire ‘Red Zone’ and as such will never allow individual to create campfires. Liquid fuel stoves are permitted in improved areas as long as they have an on/off control.
As of July 1st, 2018 camping began, so the park hours are set at 0600-2200 - 365 days a year.
Is there enough snow for snow shoeing?
