Enjoyed our hike on a couple of miles of the Appalachian trail. The trail was really easy to walk, even though it had a few muddy spots. Saw a hollow log and some interesting rocks. A fun afternoon.

Yes, parts of the AT south and north of Gathland are rocky and no horses are permitted.

We enjoyed Crampton’s gap hike. We saw the path with a white paint marking leading behind the destroyed house/fortress. Which hike is that and how long is it? Is it the AT? White paint marking. Thank you.

Yes, the white blazed trail is the AT.

Is there an opportunity for a short - 1 mile - woodsy hike? New to hiking and not confident with not getting lost. Two kids age 7 & 14

Yes. Easy to walk trail that would be great for starting with kids. Try the Cramptons Gap trail. Restrooms currently open at Arnoldtown Rd parking lot. Also very easy access to Applachian trail. Can always walk for a while and turn back.
