We moved in here more than a month ago. So far, it is good (will update review if it changes). There are couple of things that are missing or weird but in general we had pleasant experience. Mar'yanah is always helpful. We like the green premises, big patios, online payment system and the square footage for 1b apartments, which is a little bigger than other apartments in the area have to offer. Having amazon lockers is a bonus. Premises are clean even though there are ducks... I will give a couple of suggestions/problems description next. If management would be willing to address these at some point in the future, it would be nice: - rats in dumpster area. A lot of rats. Especially at night; - weird buildings numbering and confusion with addresses. All major vendors have navigation issues at the property. A door can say apt 1501 but in fact it is apartment 1 according to USPS; Maybe it make sense to keep apartment signs according to USPS. Same with mailboxes. Outside of the mailbox it is a different number from the one inside. I had my mail found in neighbor's mailbox couple of times; - not enough storage space inside of the apartment. Basically none. It is good to have washer and dryer inside of the apartment but it would be also good to have an extra space for storage. I would rather see washer and dryer on the patio while having the empty closet for the storage; - there are a lot of empty space above the toilet. This empty space is "asking" for wall-shelves. It would be a deal breaker for small bathrooms at 1b apartments given that there's no storage at all; - having a "no loud talking after 10pm" sign in the lower parking in-between buildings would be super helpful. Echo is a killer, especially because bedroom windows are facing these areas; - some instructions on how to properly use AC would be nice upon move-in; - it is a long shot, but having a kitchen wall exhaust would be a killer feature. All the smell from cooking would not stay in the apartment. Not sure why it is hard to find it in USA, but in Europe it is common and helpful amenity/feature;

Management seems really “out there”. Cannot ever answer a direct question regarding a problem. Always seems confused. Don’t expect a parking spot unless you fight for it. You’re on your own here.

Would not recommend this place especially if you’re getting a ground level apartment by the street. I have been here 6 months and have encountered the following issues so far - Refrigerator wasn’t working and they replaced it after making me wait for a month. (Had to prove it wasn’t working multiple times) - When it rains, water slowly floods the kitchen and they haven’t even bothered to respond to the maintenance request. - Bedroom carpet has little nails in certain places that haven’t been hammered in properly. - Bathroom has faux hardwood floor just like the rest of the apartment which makes it hard to clean. What kind of bathroom doesn’t have tiles! - People trespass my patio all the time and there is no privacy or safety whatsoever. - No way to get to the bathroom without closing the bedroom door. Strange layout plan. - Packages get lost because the apartment isn’t secured in any way. - Super dark at night so it doesn’t feel very safe to walk out. Install some good lights!! - Not easy to notice when moving in but the blinds and other parts of the house are poorly finished. - The smart lock has a mind of its own. It signs me out and takes a good two attempts to open the door. If you can’t install a good smart lock, just stick to an old school key. - The dumpster area is poorly maintained. Not sure if all the units are like this but the other reviews aren’t too different. What a mess!

First of all, we lived here for 5 years. The application process and first year experience was an interesting one-to say the least. Since then, many changes for the better have taken place. We have no complaints about the management or staff (even though many of them have come and gone), everyone took care of our questions and our needs, especially the exceptional maintenance team. The only negative things we can say, is that the rent just kept going up and up and up. No matter what your salary, it is very gut wrenching to see your rent increase when your pay doesn't match that-especially in an older apartment without interior amenities. In Sunnyvale, we found a place that has every updated item and amenity you could imagine. Comparing costs, monthly apartment fees, pet fees and even our moving expenses, we are going to be able to save at least a minimum of 700.00 per month-even up to 1k. We will miss Shadowbrook in many ways, especially the connections we made. We truly look forward to a healthier bank account and a newer home with all the amenities. We wish the team at Shadowbrook all the very best.
