I expected the traditional tourist trap experience and was surprised with incredibly friendly staff. Our tour guide was Roy and we had a mix of edutainment about the history of the mine and mining in general. It was well paced, allowed time for questions, got hands on with old mining tools. Our tour guide also knew the best places to stop and take pictures and took family photos for the families in our tour. I would recommend getting advance tickets since the tour was already full when we first stopped.

So much fun ! Guides were so friendly and very knowledgeable! The area is just gorgeous and the mine was awesome! You even get to chip away for some gold at the bottom. Would recommend for adults and kids alike !! Oh and the chip monks take peanuts from your hand -so fun and cute!

The mine tour was amazing! My kids and I had a blast! Roy was great with the kids and adults alike. I have gold mining experience and Roy was spot on and a wealth of knowledge. Thanks Roy, we are telling everyone about the mine and will be back! Definitely for the opening up of the 2 and 3 hundred foot levels👍

I've done a lot of mine tours in my life. This is by all means my favorite. Roy did an amazing job interacting with the whole group from 4 year olds to myself at 48. He made history fun and exciting and his passion for mining and its history were conveyed easily. The mine itself is an incredible place of history and geology. And at the end of the tour, the prospecting and panning was more fun and rewarding than anything I've ever done during a tour.

This was a great tour! It takes about an hour and costs around $24 per adult and around $15 per child.
Yes, they have an area outside the mine where you can practice panning gold.
We went to the mine rather tan online....easier..
Probably best if you call. They take you approximately 600-700 feet into the mine and there are parts that would be inaccessible.
The tour is -inside- a mine, walking with a medium sized group of people in close proximity to one another.. unless it's a service dog I can't imagine they would want a dog in there (as a tour customer, I know I wouldn't).
Didn't ask that question
Yes, they have panning and you can keep what you find. Plus you get to take your own sample from the mine. Covid-19 precautions are smaller groups and masks. They had plenty of hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes on hand. They wiped hard hats and safety glasses down before and after each tour. We felt safe. Had a great time.
Its a great tour and there may be things like the panning fir gold ir going diwn the road a few hundred feet to look at old mine stuff that are truly accessible... But the mine itself is damp and muddy. I personally would not take a wheelchair or scooter in there.
You can definitely get tickets there. You dont really need to reserve a spot. Its generally never too crowded.
It's about 1.5 hours drive depending on road conditions according to Google Maps
Devon Jones is correct on pricing for mine tours. We also have gold panning for $12/person, or $5 each if you do the tour.
