I was set to move into this Macallan today, but was luckily approached by the current residents before I got a chance to. I was informed that there had been multiple shootings INSIDE the building and that management had neglected to repair doors, also allowing multiple 'pool parties' of people that were not residents. What convinced me to immediately end my lease before even moving in at all were the videos of bullet holes outside of the wall next to the very unit I was set to move into. Very scary and concerning, I would recommend not making the same mistake I did ..

Reading this review, you might be surprised at the two start I left. If this was simply based on the horrific management, I would leave zero stars. The two stars are for the cost, apartment interior, and pool. Simply put, the staff that manages this property are inept. The building was sold last year and the new management is not only incapable of effectively managing this property, but they are rude, ever revolving, and disregard the small conveniences we have here. For example, the spilled millions into renovating the property (focusing only on cosmetic shared spaces) and allowed the elevators to remain broken for months. They could not seem to manage the very simple package locker room we had, put in lockers and because they were cheap (only putting in like 40) for an apartment with hundreds of units, created a huge mess. They would lock the doors after hours and on the weekends so that we could not access our packages during convenient hours, and because of this packages often went missing. Now they are forcing residents to use a new service called Fetch and mandating a $10 a month charge for it. Theft has been a common theme since they took over managing the property, as well: cars, bikes, storage rooms, packages, and so on. Another huge issue is how dirty they leave the property. I have seen the same garbage in the can at the front door off Ross Ave (spilling over) for more than a week. I have seen trash by the elevator (inside) for two weeks before it was finally picked up (probably by a fed up resident), and there is dog poop all over the place. Let's talk about the interiors. I really like my apartment. For what I rented it for, it is a solid deal. Looking on the website, the price has gone up hundreds of dollars, yet nothing has been done to update it. The unites are spacious but outdated with dark wood cabinets. Things that are broken are never fixed. I asked over a handful of times to fix some lose cabinets and eventually gave up. When I moved in, my apartment was filthy, I mean tomato sauce stains in the microwave, gunk all over the outlets, dirty toilet filthy. Looks like this is still a problem, as a new neighbor who recently moved in was in the hallway throwing a fit over it. I could go on and on, but at the stem of my issue is management. They are awful. I cannot wait for my lease to end.

I’ve lived here for over a year & it has only gotten worse with the new management company. First off, the walls are so thin you will hear any and everything your neighbors do. My downstairs neighbors have a speaker so loud, it vibrates my floors and I have elephants living above me. The fire alarms go off for no reason at least once a month. And always in the middle of the night, of course. The “recycle” area is always overflowing with garbage, furniture, etc. The garage gate is broken half the time, as are the elevators. People let their pets use the restroom in the hallways and stairs. The “package room” doesn’t have enough lockers so packages are often left out on shelves for anyone to take. And now they are FORCING everyone to get their packages shipped to some random address before it can be delivered to you. It’s absurd and ridiculous. Receiving packages should not be this big of a dilemma. The office staff is unresponsive to emails and phone calls. I have reached out to them several times and never hear back. And now they’re increasing the rent almost $300 to live in this s-hole. My lease could not be up soon enough. I would not recommend this property to anyone. Ever.

The new management is making everything as inconvenient as possible, especially package deliveries. Don’t live here unless you enjoy having to solve a very complex mystery every time you need to figure out what happened to one of your packages. Before they showed up, we had a package room. All packages were placed there and you would receive a code to access the room and retrieve your package. They decided to replace that system with package lockers, but they didn’t buy nearly enough, so now our packages just get piled up in a room with no security and anyone can just help themselves to our things. But wait! It gets worse. They’re now forcing us to sign up for a service called Fetch, where you have to send all your packages to a different address at a warehouse somewhere and wait for those people to come bring your package to you. You can’t even send packages to your own home address anymore. What’s extra fun about this is that Amazon takes about 5 extra days to deliver to that address than it would take to just deliver to your apartment. And it’s not optional. So you can either wait an extra week to receive all your packages or move out. Strongly consider living literally anywhere else.
