Great dam to visit, fish ladder and lots of interesting information on the barges and fish!

Beautiful scenery, a nice visitor center and a guided tour made for a pleasant experience. You can drive across the dam during the day and there is a park and campground on the north side of the river.

History, views, great information area. 2000' elevation drop to the river from the Palouse. Good park and Rec nearby. Hard surface hiking trail.

The staff are extremely friendly. It is fun watching the fish swimming through the passage - some of them were huge! If you time it just right you can see boats going through the dam lock. There is plenty of parking and has several turn out areas on the way to the dam. There are also tons of wild blackberry bushes around the area with huge berries on them.
