Wow! What an unexpected but great afternoon. My husband and I took our 5 year old. The volunteers working allowed us to look around at our leisure but also shared interesting information and set up a panning for gold experience!

This little out of the way museum is definitely worth a stop. Lots of interesting tools, artifacts, photos, etc. Docents were knowledgeable. We learned a lot. So glad that the Historical Society is preserving this information.
Shatter Smoking
The people are real nice. Ive been setting up a canopy there for some years now and i enjoy doing it for them. Theres a lot of good information about the history of highway 41 and everything on it.

The museum is open seasonally from April to October. It is closed in the winter, but can be opened for a special event or tour by calling the office to make arrangements.
