Best interesting full of history place I ever been in. Recommend for everyone to visit it. You will have to buy tickets and a tour guy. Or you will get lost plus this whole place has historical value, don't touch anything. It's all one of the kind place.

Really funky castle to visit. I think we bought tickets ahead of time for a tour. Not perfect for young kids, but we made it work with a 4 and 2 year old. The guides were very knowledgeable and give you a bit of freedom to explore and ask questions. Just such a unique building like you’ve never been in before. Definitely worth a visit and strol of the grounds afterwards.

An amazing almost 110 year old concrete mansion. Built by a guy with an idea to do his own thing. His family wanted him to be a lawyer. Which he did become, but he became much more! The beauty outside is enhanced by story telling tiles inside. There's nothing like it any where else in PA. Makes me want a concrete castle too. Great tour and guide! Unique ceramic design tile maker. His original ceramic tile factory is walking distance away.

This place is gorgeous! The detail and uniqueness of this home is just incredible. I thought the price of $25 per person for a 30 minute walk through to see 12 trees was a bit steep but once you are there, inside, listening to the guides telling you the stories about the talent behind the building of this massive structure and each piece that was meticulously placed, truly worth every penny. The pictures do not do it justice. Next time we are in the area we will go back because it is easy to miss things when there is so much to look at!

You can only see the castle with the tour, and reservations are recommended. We didn't have reservations and fortunately the tour wasn't full so we were able to join, but I wouldn't want to count on that.
No, unless it is a photo/special tour. When my girlfriend and I attended we just showed up.
My tour guide didn't say anything about hauntings, but no one in my group asked, either. Henry Mercer did die in the castle though.
No elevators.. Innumerable stairs. The building is complex.
Mercer Museum is handicap accessible. Castle, not very good for handicapped.
Hi Howard, Fonthill Castle no longer takes reservations for tours. Instead, you can check our website for our full list of tour times: mercermuseum.org/visit/fonthill-castle/plan-visit/ We hope you enjoy your visit!
