This library is one of my favorite memories. It fostered a life long love of reading.

The staff are are always eager to help. I feel that we are lucky to have such a great library in our town. Visit some of the other libraries in the area and you'll see how fortunate we are to have a modern facility with staff that are professional and knowledgeable about all of the resources that are available there. I've lived in Newburyport for over 25 years and the people that work at the library have made every visit a pleasant experience.

Yes! Please return library items to the book drop located near the main entrance of the Library on State Street, or to the outside book drop located near the entrance of Market Basket on Story Ave. Due to COVID we are not accepting returns inside of the building. Items that are being returned will be quarantined for 4 business days before being checked-in.
Yes we do! We have a few book groups for adults here at the Library. Novel Ideas is our fiction book group, Just the Facts reads non-fiction titles, Book Bites is our cookbook club, Literary InQueeries is for the LGBTQ+ community and we also run Retired Readers at the Newburyport Senior Center. Check out our website (www.newburyportpl.org/events) to see what titles we are reading next and for more details about the groups.
Our next Book Sale is at the end of March 2019. Acceptance of book donations will run from March 23rd-26th, the Friends of the Library Preview Night is March 27th, and the sale opens to the general public on Thursday, March 28th. The Friends of the Library usually host two book sales a year-one in October and the other in March. All of our Book Sale dates are on our website as well! (www.newburyportpl.org/events)
