Getting and droping off the car was as smooth as possible and in less than 10 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised about everything, but most of all about self-picking the car. However, selecting a 4x4 jeep with high consumption was not the smartest thing to do for a 2000 km on-road trip. On the other hand, the vehicle was brand new, with every assistant possible (active tempomat, lane assist ...).

Bus ride to the rental was a bit stressful from LAX - packed and standing but once at the rental, it was pleasant and easy. Attendants were nice and accomodating. Let's see if the drop off is as easy as there were some pre existing scuffs on the car... they said just to hold on to those pictures.

Amazing experience renting with Alamo! I was really worried about renting a car in the USA as I've heard a lot of complaints on big rental companies, but it was so far the best experience ever! Very fast pick up with the check-in kiosk - even though I had only a debit card and I thought there would be some issues with not having a credit card - but no issues at all. We had a lot of cars to choose from in mid-size as e.g. toyota corolla, nissan versa, kia forte, hyundai Ioniq or even mini countryman, which was a nice surprise, as its crossover so I thought it should more likely to be in the suv section. We went for a countryman for extra trunk space, but we didn't realize it was a 1.5 engine size model, which was a bit too underpowered and loud when reaching 70-80mph. It had a semi-automatic gearbox which sometimes had some issues changing gears, but overall I liked the car. It was spacious inside and comfortable for doing almost 3000 miles :) Anyway, pickup was fast and hassle-free. Drop off was even better - quick service and car checkup in the meantime when we were unloading our luggage. Got an invoice straight to my email and we were ready to go to our shuttle bus to the airport. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Will recommend Alamo to everyone. I hope they have the same great service in Europe, so that I can rent from them again! :)

Suggest not renting from Alamo. We are seniors and just received a claim that we owe Alamo money for damages to the car we rented. My wife and I normally rent our vehicles from Avis, however this vacation our family suggested renting through Costco, which directed us to Alamo. We picked the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder up at 06:26 am on February 21st 2022 at Alamo Lax. The keys to the vehicle were given to us by Jackie. It was dark outside and the vehicle was parked with the rear facing the rental office. My wife and I wiped all of the interior with antibacterial wipes and did not check the exterior of the vehicle, because it was dark and we have never had to worry about these details when renting from Avis. After wiping the interior, we loaded our luggage into the rear of the vehicle, started the engine, adjusted the mirrors and seats, locked the doors and exited through the Alamo check out, showing our rental agreement and identification. We headed straight to our favorite restaurant in Seal Beach California for breakfast and while waiting for the restaurant to open and our seats inside the restaurant, we noticed the front bumper and license plate were damaged. We walked around the vehicle and found multiple scratches in the paint on the front and rear bumper as well as where over the years luggage had been dragged across the paint. It was very obvious that the damage was old and had been on this vehicle for sometime!!! Attached are the pictures. At 8:32 am on February 21st 2022 in front of the restaurant in Seal Beach. Upon discovering the damage, we immediately called Alamo and we’re directed to David at Alamo. We explained that while waiting to eat breakfast we discovered damage to the vehicle and he assured us not to worry. We explained that we have pictures and asked David if he wanted us to forward, he responded “that it was not necessary“ David issued a case number and again assured us “not to worry” “that it was old damage and these things happen” When we returned the vehicle to LAX, we showed the young lady checking us in the damage and explained that we had spoke to David and had a case number. She said “It was obvious these are old scratches” She said “I have seen so many, that I can tell you these are really old and do not worry” To say I am disappointed, is an understatement. In my hundreds and possibly thousands of rentals with Avis, I have never had a situation like this. Avis checks their vehicles prior to a customer accepting the vehicle and notes any damage. The 2019 Pathfinder had 52,212 miles on the odometer when we rented it, with Colorado plates. Anyone can easily determine by the pictures that the scratch marks and damage to the license plate did not occur from the time we rented it at 6:26 am until 8:23 am when we called David. Very frustrating and unwarranted. After receiving the notice, I checked and discovered this happens frequently with Alamo. I will also be contacting Costco.

That last one is so true. Missed flight and had to catch the red eye home!!
Alamo takes debit cards only with proof of a return travel ticket
You will be charge the days you used the car only and if you already paid full amount, you will get refund for the rest
They asked for a DL NOT AN ID
What Jake said. We rented a convertible got to choose from a Mustang, Camaro, Volkswagen bug, mini Cooper, and a Buick.
Of course.
https://www.alamo.com/en_US/car-rental-faqs/drivers-license-requirements.html If the home country license is in a language other than English (or French, for rentals in Canada) and the letters are English (i.e. German, Spanish, etc.) an International Driver's Permit is recommended, but not required, for translation purposes in addition to the home country license.
I recommend to call them ahead of time for all options available to you. Also delta has been doing some strange things at LAX between terminal 2 and 3; I recommend to check which terminal the luggage drop off is at.
Call them?
You will have to make a reservation on the internet then you will have to negotiate certain insurances on site, find out about the return costs outside the agency (in principle in California it will be free) the amount you will have to pay on return will already be established on first day, but your Card will have the amount blocked in an imprint so take care that this does not prevent you from making other purchases during your stay
Is possible that you can do it, my advice is to call Alamo and change the time
Yes. Because this location is located in the vicinity of LAX, it stays open 24/7
No charge for returning early but there will very likely be a substantial charge for returning somewhere other than what you agreed to in you're original reservation. Change your reservation to include a return at PHX if you haven't already done so.
Its open 24/7 but it runs less frequently during off peak hours.
No, you have to take a shuttle bus to Alamo Car Rental, located out side of the airport
We just picked up the car and the cartels ask that the card be credit and not debit. We have presented a loan from Unicaja Banco and without problem By the way, they only charged us €1 as a deposit.
Yes caravan present. But son Will come Out of catalogue
It doesn't require truck or commercial endorsement.
Depends on the car and apart from the coverage of the car and the days you will use it
There will be rental car busses once you leave the baggage claim area. Its about a 5-6 minute ride to the rental car area.
Fabio, you can get a Mustang GT. Which will be a V8.
You need to take the Alamo shuttle that will take you to their premises so you can rent a car.
Contact alamo
This I do not know. Try the Alamo number, go thru the prompts. Only a few let you thru the desk. Very difficult to get a hold of. I had a similar issue. Long time to get them to answer.
I believe it's 300.00 deposit fee if you use a debit card.
All major credit cards accepted
2.3 EcoBoost l4 with 300 HP

It depends on the car that you rent there are some that already come with it but it seems to me that the price per GPS device is 5 to 8 dollars anyway when the fences to pick up they will tell you what cost it is worth is the maximum I can help.
Ask them. They have plenty of cars
I think we can select an electronic road payment system. It wasn't attached to the car.I don't know the price.
I think you need an international license. Call Alamo and find out
They should fit. You may need to call Alamo directly
Yes Alamo shuttle bus free to Alamo renters . Big blue one.
Nobody speaks French in this Area. MAYBE Englisch or German Cold help.....
Returning to pick it up is the best and fastest option.
Sorry ? I do not understand 🤔
according to me alamo has nothing to do with it. has Not un honest operators
International license is required when the characters are not Latin style. (Russian, Japanese, Chinese, etc.). I rented without difficulty with a French license but to avoid unpleasant surprises and in case of police control, it is always more reassuring to travel with an international license.
Hello so yes we can pay with a French card (me it was a master card) I paid the booking via the site autoeurope.fr (good plan) They take a loan from the card for the deposit without debiting. That's good trip 😊
Yes it's safe
I think you can. You have to inform via customer care or may be you can just drop off at any location. You may be charged extra.
I returned my Alamo vehicle in LAX at Alamo / National car return. Easy to find through Google Maps. From there drive about every 5 minutes. Shuttle buses towards the airport.
Don't understand or speak French.
Once your out off the terminal. Head towards the pillars. One or two off then are red sign and the one you want for car rentals is in purple signs and que for the company shuttle bus you booked. It'll stop and pick you up and take you straight to the place.
Yes
You need to get your international driving license
Other driver's licenses or permits are accepted if they are valid.
Yes
it's not possible
All the lenders are good, Álamo was excellent, look for a better price according to the anticipation of the rental, greetings
This is not Alamo Rent-A-Car this is a forum to allow you to ask Google users about their experience and knowledge about places they've been you'll need to contact Alamo directly for that question.
Yes, you only need the French license to rent the car at Alamo. I am French and rent the car at least twice a year in the USA.
Yes. There ate shuttles, just outside the terminal, on your right hand side, i needed to ask for direction, as it is not well marked.
go ahead and pay for the 9 days and a credit card on the record also takes out auto insurance on the rental in case
So by booking from an online broker I won't have problems picking up at their kiosks and avoiding both the lines that the vendors propose for additional charges?
Yes they take debit card payments
To rent larger vehicles, the driver must be 25 years of age or older and have liability insurance for the largest vehicle.
Yah I'm rent in san diego and return it in la .
Yes, they check the second license. You may be able to provide a copy of their license, but first I would call and check.
You can use kiosk with French license.. But I'm not sure when you meet police..
And
They do not. Look for smaller local rentals, all majors are not insured for Mexico.
Every 5 and 10 minutes
Yes you can do that...i have done many times
Usually no.. but I would call and explain
If it is within 24 hrs...no extra rate applicable...it will be considered as one day only
If you have full coverage you don't need theirs
I want to help you but I just drive... 😉 Sorry. By the way I love mustang cars.
I think it might be somebody else. But it needs to be mentioned at the time of the lease, as the persons authorized to drive the vehicle when the vehicle is taken out are registered.
Yes they do accept a debit card as long as it has the mastercard or visa logo on it.
They usually have
Yes, usually they dont ask for info at time of return
Hello Diana, the reason for requesting a credit card is as a guarantee for any eventuality that may happen to the vehicle. Greetings.
As far as i know, they only accept credit cards, this is because they need to charge you some extra amount in case of possible accidents or fines, and so on.
Return your rental and then take the rental shuttle to your terminal.
Alamo rental car would best answer that question
You need to call them directly. Alamo doesn't answer questions on here. Other Google users do.
Yes for the insurance
They rent you a lift chair and / or for minors, if you have the possibility, better take it from here as hand luggage since it is expensive at least 10 dollars a day in the case of the USA.
No need to wash it. You can return it in any Alamo agency if you ask for before.
Yes... just call Alamo and change the location. We did it 3 weeks ago in LA
I don't have it. Sorry
We have a chrisler equinox a suv. But it depends if when you arrive there is a choice ... You can choose what you like.
Drive there directly.
Yes
I went on last may and I used the Alamo bus.
I think you have to have a credit card
There is a range from Hyundai Santa Fe to Jeep. I saw higher end versions on this size available too. Can't help with engine size.
Your Portoguese licence is fine, but you need a credit card to rent a car... Kind regards
They will help you to make good choice
I would think debit card would be a lot better
Shouldn't take more then 3 minutes to return the car once you get into the return area, where they tell you to park, then they check the car, probably 10-15 mins without traffic
sorry
As French, driver's license and passport. I had booked online
I always go through Alamo. No credit card required, NO deposit required!!
I think over 21, but may require extra deposit amount, they may have other stipulations. It does seem to me in some states you may need to be over 25. I think over 25 is their preferred rental age range. You might have to their 800 number to confirm.
I believe they do but sometime it depends on the renter to contact them and report the missing iteams.
Its about 10 to 15 minutes only because of the traffic and construction. The Shuttle was free and the driver was safe. Time from Alaska air baggage claim: .....free Alamo shuttle...check in kiosk...walk to rental car..35 to 40 minutes max
We had Nissan Altima
I just rented but it seems it was good the charge this was in Los Angeles California
Alamo has their own free shuttle that will take you to their rental location. Get on shuttle right outside baggage claim.
All time 24/7 The building is huge and all the time is open Last time that I fligth to L.A. was 11 o clock
I don't work for them but did same and they take back to rental location where u dropped off
Under 24 your price and insurance change. But you should be able to rent
No idea Cristina
I do not have the local number
yes
No is not, the person getting the car needs to be the same one in the reservation
Yes
on the Alamo web you can know
Rentals are off-site, there will be a shuttle to take you there. Go to ground transportation to meet it.
Depends on the type of car In small cars there is no anger usually charge the day When you rent a large van if they charge you extra hour
As long as it's the same place you picked it up, it should be no problem to drop it off and just be charged for the days you had the vehicle. (excluding prepaid reservations)
I often use my debit card with the Visa logo at this location often when flying in and have no issues. They take a $200 deposit as long as you have return flight info.
I believe that Alamo only rents gas vehicles, however to be on the safe side, you can check online on their website. Also, a feature I really love is that they allow you to choose your own vehicle within your chosen class at this location.
Alamo/National buses are plenty and the drive from LAX to their site is under 20 minutes
You will need a license to pickup car. Didn't need anything to show when returning.
