If i could give this spot a zero I would, terrible terrible place Too many leaves, too much green, Bears also pulled up in a Chrysler 300 and mugged us of most of our belongings Please Californians, its no joke , Oregon is a terrible place, Try visiting somwhere else like Utah or Idaho

This place was pretty amazing before the fires. The pictures below were taken 1 week before the devasting 2020 fires. It seems I unintentionally preserved a little bit if alpine history paradise. The road to Breitenbush trailhesd was in very good shape, before the fires

Beautiful BUT.... Absolutely gorgeous destination, one the prettiest I've been to. We arrived around 3pm and almost immediately when you get near the lakes, you're immediately swarmed with mosquitos. I've never encountered so many mosquitos in my life and not even bug spray helped. We set up our camp, made dinner, had to eat in the tent because they were so bad. Even rushing into the tent from outside, around 40 got in. We ended up leaving around 6:30 that same night because we couldn't even enjoy the time outside. It was a real bummer but happy we got out when we did. Next day I had around 80 bug bites all over my body.

I am a professional backpacker who has been all over the state of Oregon. This place is absolutely not worth the hike in!!! First of all it is extremely dangerous and difficulty to even get to the Jefferson park area. If you can finally reach the area you will not find a camping spot because bears will have already taken them all over. They will not even let you get close.... Also people have been murdered here. Usually 1 to 2 murders a year. They cant find the person responsible so don't even take the chance... Also, its full of mosquitos and they all carry diseases! Many people get deathly ill here every year from mosquitos alone... Avoid this place there are plenty of other better options.
