If you're an out of town fan of the book, "The Little Red Lighthouse and the Big Gray Bridge" you should note that it's not the most convenient location to get to. That said, it's a wonderful and charming spot if you plan for it. Don't forget to take a stroll south to view the "mysterious" stone cairns along the water. It will make your visit more magical.

Im a photographer and i must say this park was awsome. Apart from the relaxing view by the water you get an amazing view of the gw bridge and a beautiful citiscape view across the water plenty of open space to bbq run ride bike etc. There’s also basketball and tennis courts but the star of the show to me was the beautiful little red lighthouse beneath the bridge for everyday recreation this spot is great but for photographers it’s a hidden gem.

Beautiful riverside park with The Little Red Lighthouse there, waiting for visitors. George Washington bridge is above the river.

Cute little light house. Loved reading about how a child’s book in the ‘50s (?) helped saved it from being dismantled. I didn’t stay long. Was on my way across the GWB for the first time on bicycle. If you’re in the vicinity of the red lighthouse, check out the stacked rocks. They’re cool.

Not as an official lighthouse but as a tourist attraction
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Red_Lighthouse The Wikipedia article talks about the book which I remember fondly as a beginner reader children's book used while attending PS 122 now renumbered as PS 310 Marble Hill. Slated for demolition fans of the book written by Hildegarde Swift help make the site a national landmark. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hildegarde_Swift
Absolutely! Just was to the Fort Washington Park and follow lighthouse signs to the Little Red Lighthouse!
Probably on line or at the New York City store. There is no gift shop on site
No
Only park rangers are allowed to drive in the park. The closest parking lot at 158 Street is too far. Accessibility info for city parks is at https://www.nycgovparks.org/
You have to walk quite a distance. But there is street parking
I don't think the lighthouse is open for visitors or tours, but I believe you can visit the park at any time.
They have one every fall during the Little Red Lighthouse Festival. I think school groups also sometimes do tours but the festival us your best bet.
There's a picnic area with tables about a mile back towards the city and I've seen people with portable BBQ there happily cooking.
Little Red Lighthouse Festival this year Saturday September 29th. There are a long lines though.
yes, either 1 or A trains. A train gets you closer.
We took an uber to w 181st and Plaza Lafayette. We walked up Plaza Lafayette towards Riverside Drive. We then took a right on Riverside Drive and walked towards a traffic stop that had a zebra crossing. We crossed to this funny looking bridge and just walked across it. Once the bridge ends there's a sort of winding path going down and we just followed that path. We kept walking down the path and onto the road till we hit the lighthouse. The confusing bit is where the path ended onto the road. You have to keep following the road once you get off the winding path. If you turn and walk the other way on that road you apparently end up at the cloisters (or so we were told).
Hi, no its not open to public to go inside, mater fact Its not in function as a light house since the George Washington Bridge was built according to Wikipedia. It's just a city landmark for historic place. You can go really close to it though but it has fence around it
100 years old. It was first lit in 1921
