I really like this park. It doesn't quite get the love it deserves. But for the location and size, it's really great. You can fish, do archery, go for a jog, walk your dog. They have a few playgrounds. Tennis courts. All in all a great community asset.

I have going to Hester Park almost regularly now and it's a really great place to unwind from the work and technology around it, it has a great trail which I enjoy for running, a nice scenery and a walkable distance from my home, for people young and old i recommend coming here for either exercise or if you just want to get out of the house and enjoy nature it really does feel you're enclosed in this beautiful area. I do wish there was a lot more to do, i have noticed they are building a place for archery which seems fun and I cannot wait for it to open to try it out but the calming nature atmosphere is enough for me to calm down and enjoy the park for what it is worth.

Great park! They have a little play area with monkey bars swings for the bigger kids & babies, plenty of things for your young one to climb on, plenty of picnic areas, lots of water, beautiful ducks, geese & walking trails. Very Nice park!

I love it here! It is never overcrowded. It's a great place to walk, relax in your car, cookout. Whatever, you name it. There are plenty of picnic spaces, gazebos, restrooms and playgrounds at both ends, tennis courts, volleyball courts. If you have your fishing license, you can fish. I go here to walk. I also go here to just sit in my car and think. If you've never been, you should.

And nothing has changed
You have to reserve the shelter through Parks and Rec
YES! You do need a NC fishing license, but park employees will not ask for your license. If a Game Warden comes through & ask for your license and you don't have one you will most likely get a citation. Not because of the park employees but because of NC fishing regulations. I work there and this is the true facts.
Well, nobody's here welcoming anybody. Feel free to bring your dog though... LOL...
You eat the fish 🐟 out of that lake? 😳
Yep.
Yes you can still fish there, we just ask that you practice social distancing
Not at this time all parks have suspended their fishing fees, but you are required to have a fishing license by the state if over the age of 16.
3 pm for now.
Not sure. But there are always people fishing there when the weather is nice
Yes, it's a small fee for fishing, but I'm not sure how strong its enforced. Check with park office to be safe.
It closed at 5pm. Opens at 8am daily.
Without a permit you have to pay two to three dollars at the tackle station and they sale worms and fishing accessories.
The cost of daily fishing passes is $2. Kids under 12 fish for free when with an adult. They don't sell fishing licenses and they don't askk for one nor do they ticket you for not having one, but they ask that you have one in case a game officer comes through. Hope this helps!
Yes
No
Hi Nisha. Shelter 5 isn't near the playground. You have to cross the street and the parking lot to get to the playground from the shelter.
