U.S. Navy “INTP” Engine Room Mechanic
I’m so glad I joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. The moment I knew I’d be graduating high school, I enlisted. Graduating high school wasn’t in my future, but a few special teachers gave me the attention and support I needed my Sophomore year that gave me the leverage to graduate. My father was gone before I was born and my mother was thrown in prison when I was two years old. I was going nowhere fast and the goal was to get away from the neighborhood that had a negative grip on my future. Because I served honorably, the VA has been my Mom and Dad. Luckily the VA can’t die like parents do. I apologize for being so dramatic, but I don’t know where I’d be without the caring support I need some times. When something happens in my life, they’re there for me 100% and I couldn’t be better off. Some individuals have a mother, or father, or both to fall on and not having either has forced me learn to be resourceful and self-sufficient with the VA at my side when I need them the most. The VA is constantly improving and we veterans are incredibly thankful for absolutely everything that you all do. Keep up the great work Long Beach VA Teams and Thank You all for your hard work to be your absolute best every single day. I love you VA!

Kudos to our care team they made the impossible possible motivated my son to work harder and reach his goals. Building 150 Spinal Cord Injury Unit, we appreciate all the medical team, the social workers, therapist! We want to also acknowledge the PVA that has an office here that assist us in some administrative work. The Wounded Warrior Regiment for all the help! I know that my son will continue to progress. Words cannot express how thankful we are for everything they did for our family!

This location used to be top notch, but service is now 50/50. They need to seriously, put a audio camera in the pharmacy pickup area so they can see how a certain woman, who's been there for years, talks to the patients. I witnessed several in the line get broken answers that had nothing to do with what they asked and she rushed without helping them with meds they needed(you know exactly who I'm talking about).

I feel the VA should allow people to get the shots and things for the covid-19 at least I feel their serum will be on the legitimate side and they won't be playing with people's lives when it comes to getting the shots even though they may be a federal facility I think the doors should be open for the public as well. I have even offered to come there to assist since I am a past employee of the VA system but thus far I have not received an answer from them with regards to that and I feel that it's wrong
Being a phlebotomist is it good start for employment at a VA facility. And on top of that being a veteran, gives you a priority. Put in application for employment
I'd contact a veteran's service organization, like Disabled Veteran's Of America (you don't have to be Disabled) or VFW...Veteran's of Foreign Wars. Both have offices in the hospital. They would be best motivated to assist you.
Currently the VSO at VALB is not available. Please call CALVET at 800 952 5626 to locate a VSO office that is open near you.
Not exactly sure, however, it was a Navy Hospital before the base closure in Long Beach. Some of the buildings have been around since the second World War, but most of those have since been condemned and removed to further upgrade the units on the hospital grounds.
They have walk ins
Call the clinic and they can give you all the information.
8 am you can walk in to your clinic. Appointment or not. Can always call 562 826 8000 and say you need your primary care Dr. They will hook you up.
Come to the Human Resources office at building 165
Post 9/11 era, security issues were a concern. VA implemented policies regarding photographs (available to public on line). Prior to retiring in 2016 after 32 years @ VALB, we were required to obtain appoval through our Public Affairs Office for individuals to take photos at the facility.
Hello I would recommend to apply for services plus based on income level you can qualify for medical service then you can ask your primary care team about your questions you have good luck,
You may and can be treated at any VA Medical Facility in the World, along with outside private facilities with the proper notification.
I would go through the operator and talk to hospital police/security
I have posted a recent Map of the facility and it’s Directory for us. Please view photos.
The cheapest place would be a Los Alamitos Joint Forces Base, Lodging. It's a few minutes away.
yes
Lots of bus systems go there. If you have a disability, transportation is discounted. Some medical plans cover transportation for some patients. Check with your medical insurance and see if they cover it. Good luck & Best health to you.
Contact the Business Office.
It's been my experience at the VA Hospital in Long Beach cares a lot more about their patients going to the hospital I've been in in Orange County. I've went through why do a few medical procedures at the VA hospital in Long Beach and have never had no problem.
Located on the south side east of the facility along 7th st.
Testing only available to Veterans or VA employees. Appointments needed for either.
A volunteer will take you in a wheelchair anywhere you need to go. Ask at the front desk.
I don't know what time it's open but I find out that they open on weekends to make it easier for veterans to use their services.
Call the V.A.
Yes.
I'm a volunteer and have taken many patients to the Nutrition department. I'm sure they have printed menus for diabetics. Take care.
Yes. Maps are available for each numbered bldg.
Yes they are but you have to take a online survey first and you have to be in the VA system and they will schedule a appt online after survey
Yes. But you must already be enrolled in the VA Healthcare system. If you are not, you need to get registered.
You have to take a survey first online before you can have the vaccine.
Yes, the VA only serves Veterans. The age for the vet to get vaccinationed is 75 at the moment. Hope this helps.
Don't think it's available there yet.
I don't know either, but I believe that each state has it's on policies on who gets it when.
Nobody seems to know yet
Call the hospital and ask for the Community Living Center. That is for long term care.
Are you signed up with MyHealthyVet? If you are, your X-rays should be uploaded to your profile. If you are not, call Long Beach VA in the morning and speak to your PCP or ask for a patient advocate.
Honestly i don't know i never been there
That's a good question Paul I'm assuming you're a veteran, I would call to make sure but I think they do.
Look at the bottom of the page in this link https://www.archives.gov/personnel-records-center/dd-214
Call the operator
Not sure on that, best bet would be to call them.
You should go to the .gov website and look to see what's open. California in general is pushing LVN/LPNs out of hospitals and into nursing homes but you never know what the VA needs. The website is a little tough to navigate but keep clicking or you can go to the hospital and ask someone to help you. There is an office right behind the volunteers desk at the main entrance, their isn't with HR but they know who's job it is...or you can ask one of the volunteers to help you get a cart ride to HR. Make sure they write down the locations and directions for you. I still get lost going to the cafeteria.
If your talking about the keosks you put your C VA card in, just about everywhere
You can dial 0 and you will be connected to the operator.
Squid must be hating on the Pres because his TV told him to. Anyone that's awake can see what is going on.
Call the hospital... they will direct you with the right people.
A very small one in the lobby of Bldg. 126.
On second floor of building 126. Close to nutrition and lab.
Squid would rather have a lying, murdering, traitorous thief than a blowhard that gets things done. Sad.

I've been going to this hospital 6 years and I have not seen what you are writing about.
Only if he's Service Connect Disability Award
Go to the patient business office you might have to take a means test ti determine if you have to pay for the V.A. medical
It's 40 miles or a three month wait for services (regardless of distance). The verification process is through Veteran's Choice, administered by Tri-West Healthcare. Taking the "40 mile" program doesn't affect your illegibility for direct VA services (many vets keep their VA doc and see a local doc as well).
You must be in the VA Healthcare System first. Sometimes it's a long process but I'm sure you recognize the speed of government agencies. Once you're in, I am very happy with the VA Healthcare System
Everybody else gave the exact advice I would give. Thank you for offering to volunteer
You have to fill out a financial form. Some offices are hard to find, do to ongoing construction in the main building. But just ask any staff member and they will help you find the right office. There's even volunteers who will escort you there
Visiting hours are now 24/7 and Emergency Dep't is always open.
SATC is the name os the clinic. They have a pre-bed or stabilization period of about a week. They have different programs from outpatient to inpatient up to 9 months. There are some very nice people there. I think they'll answer your questions directly but you will need a referral from your primary care if you want to get into a program. Hope this helps. Good luck.
