You better have a tour lined up before showing up because this isn’t a huge place and it’s very popular. That said, go here because the grounds are impeccable. Even just stopping for a cocktail at their cocktail expansion, is worth it. I will definitely be going back to take the distillers tour because I was floored by this place. It’s also near so many horse farms. The scenery of this distillery can’t be put into words.

[Review based on walk-on visit not a tour] Not really much to do here unless you do the distillery tour, since most of the property is off limits. There is a seating area outback of the giftshop but all you can see is a big tree right in front of the patio and the distillery roof behind it. The bar is pricey, but the mule was good (albeit small) and you get a cool copper cup!

Beautiful grounds, knowledgeable staff, and at least 4 times a year a special bourbon only here and not sold elsewhere. Today they had a single barrel pick that is excellent, Chris's Pick 4. Bar area to sample.

Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, KY is only a short drive East of Louisville; and ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! The tour last slightly over an hour, and had us hanging on every word! The facility is a national historic landmark; the structures, equipment, & process are absolutely impressive. To round off the tour, you not only enjoy a Straight Bourbon tasting, but also a crash course to becoming a sommelier!

At Woodford Reserve, access to the tasting room is restricted to those coming off the tour. And the tasting is conducted by the tour guide.
They should send you confirmation email with your tour times in it
Yes
Yes that is normally a busy time.
It's a really nice facility, gorgeous surroundings and some damn fine bourbon. With that said, I'm not sure I'd drive four hours to see it unless I had some other things lined up nearby to make a day of it. Maybe taking a long weekend and visiting some other distilleries along the trail.
Maybe outside of the gift shop and outside of the tasting room. There are places to sit outside of both. If your pup is outside I don't think they would protest. Otherwise they are a little uptight inside. Or screw, it test the waters, then if they say something. You say, what do you hate puppies!?
