Beautiful but want crazy that you have to pay just to walk on pier. Staff was friendly enough in the general store. Didnt see many fish being snagged.

Bring cash, they don't take cards. Nice place for food, drinks, snacks, souvenirs and fishing needs. $1 per person fee to walk on the pier.

Aptly named. The pier is beautiful. The sand is soft and clean. A few shells. No Whelks or conch. Plenty of sand dollar pieces (a few lucky beach walkers found whole ones). At low tide the beach is HUGE. On our visit (mid April) the beach wasn't crowded at all.

The pier itself is nice and at this time costs $1 to walk on. If you also walk on the beach, grab a basket of you're into collecting garage. As that happens to be my favorite beach vacation past time I was happy to grab a basket. Beach garbage collectors beware! There is very little garage. That day I picked up a plastic bottle cap. On other days I carried a smaller pale to pick up what little garbage was available.

Sunset Beach pier is open from 6 am till 1 am. If you google Sunset Pier you can find further information and a phone number if you need to contact them.
Yes
You have to buy the king fishing season pass
I agree with Timothy. If you park on the pavement side of the parking lot you are fine. If you park on the lot near the pier they have a sliding scale pay fee ranging from I think five dollars a day to I think fifty dollars for seasonal parking. Not sure how much they charge to go out on the pier.
Very limited free parking. However, you can pay $10 and park at the pier
