If you're an outdoorsy person or want to admire the wonderful rock formation the Tent rocks national monument is a great place to explore, learn and exercise. The park features a great paved access road and parking very close to the trails. It's usually not busy you'll discover some interesting views, caves, and unique rock formations along the trails.

Went there on a Saturday in February and it was great. The rocks are amazing and the hike was nice though it was blocked at the end by snow and ice. It was interesting to learn about what caused them-it seems like the whole west was built by volcanos, wind and water. Rangers we met were very helpful and friendly

Fantastic views of slot canyons and "tent rock" hoodoos. Pretty easy and scenic hike to the overlook then continue on the cave loop, a total of 3.2 miles and 839 ft of elevation. I would have liked a longer hike but the views and scenery make a visit here well worth it. Get here early though, or you'll have to wait to get in. Opens at 8am.

Hiking the canyon trail was a great outdoor outing. It shouldn’t take more than 2 hours up and down if you take you time to admire the scenery and take pictures. The trail is very easy for the most part, and the last climb towards the summit is a little steeper but is accessible to anyone who doesn’t have any mobility issues. I suggest to take a left towards the cave trail on your back for a short but worthwhile detour.

Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is currently closed to the public. During the closure, BLM has had the opportunity to work on projects to enhance the visitor experience upon reopening. Projects include upgrade to trails to alleviate safety concerns within the monument. In addition, the monument has published its first Draft Business Plan outlining the current state of the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument Recreation Program to ensure consistency with required statutes and laws, and establishes future management goals and priorities of the program. The draft business plan is currently out for public comment until July 9, 2021. While the initial closure was an attempt to reduce COVID-19 exposure to the gateway community of Pueblo de Cochiti, BLM has decided to maintain the closure status of the Monument until a reopening plan has been finalized.
Yes, actually very easy hiking, but the trail is long for little ones, take a snack and drinks but take a potty break before you get on the trail. The last part of the trail up the peak is difficult and has 1 or 2 dangerous spots. I suggest a 1:1 ratio adult to child to ensure their safety.
Dogs are not allowed. There are two trails - a fairly easy circular one of about a mile and a half and a far more challenging one.
Closed now as well as the dam and the cochiti lake
Yes. Would caution taking the dogs if you plan to complete the hike. There are a couple short but steep inclines that may be difficult with a dog on a leash
If you take your dog to the Jemez it's not problem. I think every where you go here in NM its dog friendly as long as you clean after it you should be ok. I don't anything about the other states but NM is animal, nature friendly and accommodations for them and their owers.
Yes, its paved
$5 and NO CARDS. If you don't have cash, they send you to the closest gas station, 10 min away, where there is any atm. It is definitely worth it, but come prepared!
Hello! At this time we do not have a reopening date set. As soon as we have more news we will be posting on our website and social media.
