Spent about a half day there and picked up a couple gallons of fire agates. Some had fire some all calscydny and some carnelians. Some had all 3 with some had quartz crystals that formed after the thermals were cooled. They form in the gas pockets and seams in the lava/basalt. All the agates have weathered out of the host stone but you can still find stuff in the vugs and cracks. Get off the main road and look along the weathered exposed bedrocks or flows above the alluvium. Look for the clusters growing out of the cracks and seams. They look like rainbow color in varnished coliflower. Awesome place.

Absolutely beautiful area with so much open space. Didn't expect to find too much, but found a bunch of smaller pretty quartz, & some small fire agate! Got there fine in a 2 wheel drive sedan. We will definitely be returning.

didn’t find any large agates. not sure if i found any, maybe all quartz. dunno. but it’s beautiful here and quiet. even if you’re not into rocks (i’m new) great place to drive around.

Super remote. Bring lots of water, hats, shade. It was gorgeous! 2 miles of dirt road in...I went in my 2008 Honda Civic. I made it just fine. Super slow, ruts.
