The Sunset is an edge of small town clean, quiet, comfortable place. Our room was 2 queen beds. The place is being taken care of quite nicely for being an older building. I LOVED that the feeling is to care for the customer. We received a bag of 2 delicious baked goods with 2 mandarins for breakfast. Pricing for our stay was moderate. I would stay there again.

Stay here. What a special place. Their objective is so apropos: to retain all the retro fixings, but as though they were new. The tiles sparkle. The glass light covers and mirrors have no cracks nor dust. The carpet is plush. The acoustical ceiling tiles look like they were installed by a perfectionist museum curator. Even the wood-paneled walls are tastefully done. You feel as though you are walking into the grand opening in 1959. For a Route 66 motel, this is the definition of being true to itself. I chatted it up with the owner-operator at the desk - what a kind lady! This motel has been owned by the family since its opening in 1959. How refreshing. Will *totally* stay here again.

Very cute, nostalgic motel that has been renovated close to original with a few modern touches. Very clean, hot shower with good water pressure, firm bed. We were presented with a bag of oranges and pastries for breakfast upon our check in— a nice touch (and they were very good). It was quiet on our stay, but keep in mind it is a motel and if people are outside talking loudly, you may hear them. I appreciated the details and the thoughts that the owners have put into the remodel.

Hotel is convenient to I-40 and reminiscent of a simpler time. Our room was reasonably clean but not fantastic. There was a strong and not pleasant odor in the room. The price was fair but not a bargain. The property would be four stars if they cleaned up the rooms a little better, eliminated the odors and did a modest amount of updating with some improved decorating and updated electronics in the room. Overall acceptable but not great. I would stay again if I needed a place but would try to find something a little more updated and with less smell.
