Loved the history. Well kept property. Very informative about daily life back in the 1800's. Blacksmith, cooper, farmhouse, pottery kiln, sawmill all were well staffed with enthusiastic employees. All kids should be shown how difficult life was back then.

This is a beautiful historic place to visit. It transformed you into a time of simplicity and elegance in craftsmanship and liveliness. The kiddos will enjoy every minute of the walk and scenery. They even have at tavern for eats and games. You'll even catch a glimpse or two of the townsfolk strolling about the grounds. And interact with them as well. Perfect place for the whole family.

Enjoyed my visit seeing the well preserved old buildings and lifestyles of the bygone era. There's plenty to see and photograph here. Could easily spend 3 to 4 hours here. Parking is free, but the entrance is a bit pricey

This place was wonderful and very educational. It really is like it's own little village. There are some small hiking trails where you can see some awesome views. Watching the staff with the oxen was awesome and informative. I want to go back in warmer weather for the boat ride. The only thing I wish was that there was more "characters" dressed up. I am thinking maybe because it was cooler or because of COVID. The "characters" who were there were fascinating and knowledgeable. We spent a few hours here and it was lovely.

Yes, there are plenty of places to have a picnic. There are tables around the tavern and I’ve seen people have picnics on the Common right on the grass.
Unfortunately, given the current uncertainty with COVID-19 and the closure of our Banquet division due to COVID-19, we are not going to be able to host Thanksgiving dinner this year. We hope that it will return in 2022. We're sorry for the disappointment!

Yes we do! One Thanksgiving dinner has already sold out, but there's still room in the second one. Find information in the holiday dining section of our website: https://www.osv.org/stay-dine-shop/dining/
I would give them a call and ask. I didn't see any info on the website about it.
Gift shop on site and lots of quaint little shops in Sturbridge itself.
You can bring food but I didn't see anywhere to store it. You can get back to the car pretty easily.
On every day they are open there are staff in period clothing going about the tasks of life in the early 1800s. For the most part, it closely follows life in the 1830s so what the staff is demonstrating will vary a bit from day to day and season to season. Generally you will see the blacksmith, Potter, and tinsmith, and often a shoe maker and a Cooper. They usually run a demonstration of all three mills. The farmers will be doing work appropriate to the season. There are women on staff in many of the houses everyday, and they will also be doing everyday 1830s tasks... So in season they will be working in the gardens, milking the cows, demonstrating things like cheese making, butter making, candle making, laundry, baking, cooking meals, sewing, etc. The staff is great - very knowledgeable and engaging. They all have a quick bit to say to each new visitor as they stop by. And if you stop to ask questions, they will happily go into much more detail.
They have "Dog Days" later in August for all members. Dog are welcome then. Service dogs are always welcome as with most places.
Adults $28.00 Seniors (55 and over) $26.00 College Students (with valid college ID) $14 Youths (4-17) $14.00 Children (Age 3 and under) FREE
Marbles, pop guns, tops... there's a whole selection of toys for under 20 bucks.
Hi Jessica, it's the Winter season schedule. I think that OSV and many other attractions need to rethink operating schedules. Given the fact folks work flex schedules and home schooling also involves hands on learning, venues such as OSV are missing a market audience that would Love the experience there.
Call the village or look at their website.
The property itself would be mostly wheelchair accessible, however some of the buildings might pose difficulties, and the second floors impossible. All things considered, a person in a wheelchair could still enjoy almost all of what there is to enjoy at Old Sturbridge Village.
The cider presses will be working, and guests will have samples of different apples and or cider
Yes. Just bring your retired Id
No, the terrain is not flat and the trails are only hardened.
