Not bad for a first-time trip to DC! The National Mall was full of beautiful monuments, galleries, museums, and other historical treasures. I would have needed a few more days to visit all of them, and I look forward to my next visit!

Full day of exercise and definitely could spend more days here. We parked at a nearby parking garage, and by the time we got back to the car at the end of the day, we had logged 9 miles. Beautiful and clean, so much to see and learn about. We went to almost all of the monuments and two of the museums. The ice cream / food trucks are great, but the music they play should be banned π

National mall is one of the most interesting and enjoyable places to visit in DC and, actually, in the entire country. Museums second to none, great memorials, and lots of tourists. The only blemish, truly embarrassing for our nation, is the toilet facility next to the Lincoln Memorial. Many establishments in Washington, DC, have serious problems with plumbing and sanitation. But this one is even worse than average. My wife and I visited the women an men facility, respectively. The ladyβs room had a long queue (that took about 45 minutes) to reach one of three available stalls. The door of one of them was broken. The filth of the place according to my wifeβs report could only be matched by the menβ facility with broken facets and suspicious liquid on the floor difficult to avoid. Not even restrooms in Central Park in NYC come close. And you are really well advised to avoid those at all costs if at all possible. --

It's a beautiful place dotted with numerous monuments and museums throwing light on the History of America. Very interesting and informative. Can easily spend a day here by just strolling through the entire area visiting all the memorials. There's a lot of walking involved, but if weather holds good (not so hot/cold), it would be a pleasant experience. It was slightly drizzling when we were there and so we loved all the walking and could go on and on without getting tired. If you decide to visit the museums, it may take more than a day. So plan accordingly.

It's not a shopping mall but a public space (more like an urban park) surrounded by museums and government buildings.
Yes
I've been there at 2 am to see staffers jogging. You can definitely have a fun picnic at night.
There are a lot of monuments on the National Mall, so I'm assuming you mean the Washington Monument. It has gone through extensive repairs several times, and will be closed until 2019.
Yes you can park it in the streets, you might have to drive around to find parking but there is parking all around the monumentsππbest wishes
Does a little free parking around but it's hard to find
I believe so. The parking in front of the museums is always my first choice. If no availability there, check by the MLK, Jr. monument. It's a bit of a walk for sure, but the parking is excellent there.
