We came for the trails and stopped at the restaurant near the lodge for lunch. Staff was super helpful guiding us to the trails and lunch was tasty. Great service all around.

There are so many things to love about the SCL. Having access to hiking trails, streams, and waterfalls all right from the property was amazing. You can spend days exploring the canyon. The setting is really quite beautiful. The fact that it was pet friendly was also a huge bonus. Rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. Only 30 minutes from Deadwood for those looking to access nightlife and gambling. Rooftop hot tubs were a nice treat. A BIG SHOUTOUT to BERNADETTE! She made my partner and me feel welcomed from the moment we arrived, and her customer service and hospitality were second to none! Bernadette is a gem! The only reason this isn't a five-star review is that, while the lodge is a great stay, for the money per night, the lack of continental breakfast or complimentary lobby coffee service in the morning was disappointing. While there is a restaurant across the street, I feel like the lodge could offer a little something for guests in the morning. The other reason for a missing star is that being a dog friendly hotel I was surprised that there was only one pet relief station, and during our 3-night stay it never had any bags.

Beautiful location, beautiful lobby. Nice bar and gift shop but drinks and gift shop items are pretty outrageously priced. Love that we were able to bring our dogs without an issue. Love the hiking trail right behind the hotel. Only about 25 minutes from downtown Spearfish. Wish the beds weren't so firm but weren't too bad. Overall had a lovely weekend.

It is a great getaway! We were able to bring our own snowmobiles and ride right out from the lodge. They are pet friendly and it was great to being our pets along! The Latchstring across the street was so good. And Cheyenne crossing is 5 miles away from a change of scenery. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be returning!
