We visited on a Saturday morning and found the only 1 parking spot available in the lot at 7.30 AM. The place has various easy, moderate and hard trails. Some dusty paths and others cemented. Partially shaded. We completed a small 45 mins loop that covered parts of PG&E trail, Hill Trail and Permanante Creek trail before entering the one that led to a cute little farm called Deer Hollow. Good to see some vintage vehicles and various animals. There were some deer too in close viscinity. Hares and squirrels were in abundance and I never saw so many together at once. They aren't scared of humans, for sure. Visually, this is very dry and dull during the summers if you are also looking for some great pictures. I would come back in the winter when it's all green again to hopefully have a better experience. This is a crowded place, especially on the weekends, and finding a spot to park is tough for many. Luckily there are multiple lots and would be best if you reach before 7 am. The public restroom is one of the cleanest I've ever seen while on a hike!

Good place for a relaxed evening in close to nature. Also the trail is good one with light walk. Good place for photography and photo shoots.

Easy 7km loop in a fine Californian evening weather. Plenty of flats for running and limited sections of steepness. 2/10 on the technical scale. Useful trail to ease into a new shoe.

We love coming to this place - there’s always a new trail to explore. Some easy and flat some with inclines. Some great views if you take the inclines. And of course the farm is a bonus! Also a ton of wildlife - turkeys, deer, ground squirrels.

Normally, the gate opens 15 minutes before the Sun rises
Drone use is not allowed on any Midpen preserves. There is a model aircraft field at Rancho San Antonio, but drones are not allowed. https://www.openspace.org/sites/default/files/Model_Aircraft_Rules.pdf
Take any trails you like. None are rated advanced, high risk or otherwise. You can get back safely from all of them.
Most of the trails are closed to Mountain Bikes
Yes you can, I saw lots of parents with babies in strollers.
No dogs allowed but Windy Hill OSP and Pulgas OSP do allow dogs
The equestrian trail will take you back to the parking lot. Everything is one big loop.
Only as used to accommodate recreational opportunities for people with mobility disabilities. More information can be found in our Other Power-Driven Mobility Devices policy: https://www.openspace.org/sites/default/files/4.10_OtherPowerDrivenMobilityDevices.pdf
This ranch is in Santa Clara county and under shelter in place laws. Right now it's too early to tell but this place might close down to three public. Under shelter in place, non essential travel is not recommended
The trails are all unpaved. The areas near the parking lots are paved, so the area that allows model aircraft is fairly accessible, but walking a trail with a stroller is unfortunately not possible.
Most trails are NOT open to bikes. You can bike to the farm - about 1 mile - but not on the trails in the hills. See the web site for more info.
There are fields on the outskirts of the preserve (near the parking lots as directed by Google maps) where I have seen RC flying before. The interior foliage would be too dense for flying I suspect.
Very limited. You can ride from the parking lot to the barn and that's about it.
No. The park is closed at night and there is a very hefty fine if the rangers find you. There are also numerous mountain lions in the area and deer kills are fairly common. The farm attracts both lions and wild dog packs. You can night hike in some OSPs further north.
This doesn't go to the park. Try their website.
Open today, Jan. 1. Entry gate closes at approx 5 p.m. (sun set), exit gate closed at 5.30 (30 mins after sun set).
I would say it's either Sunnyvale or Cupertino. No I don't offer any such services.
Yes. They are a bit small and a bit worn out (may require some clean-up).
