This is one of my favorite all seasons playgrounds. On this particular visit it was the setting of a winter adventure. It was a perfect day to be out on the snow cat on trails in the back country. Surrounded by tall pines and towering cliff it is Montana at its finest. We finished the rides with a trip to Tally Lake, an amazing gem in the western part of the forest. Tally Lake has the distinction of being the deepest lake in Montana registering at about 500 feet. Of the many other activities available throughout the year~ hiking, boating camping and swimming are just to name a few.So beautiful

The scenery is amazing, coal Creek looks like a really nice 4wt fly stream, I didn't get a chance to try it out tho. There were a number of trails that we found blocked by gates. There were also many many more that were open. Go to the mercantile at pole bridge. The food there is great. This is a great place to spend a day or more

Friend brought us here for hiking. Views are awesome, driving up is a thing, be a good place to pitch a tent if you want amazing views.

If the "Going to the Sun road" is not yet on your bucket list you need to add it! This is one amazing road trip. Plan to spend some time as there are breathtaking views, wildlife, hiking and so much more.

Absolutely there's many places for you to camp and do short distance hikes dont forget about the shuttle and tour buses as well
Bears, deer, elk, moose and many other animals
That time of year is very iffy at higher elevations. If we get much snow camo the roads were closed at the higher elevations or the be unpassable. Alternatively, they get very icy and risky to drive on with the really season snow fall. At lower elevations you should be good to go.
It is a public forest. It is open to the public for recreation or hunting.
Best to call a realtor for the locatio n
Daniel-yes-especially if you are planning on going to higher elevations I'd definitely recommend chains at the minimum & 4x4 if u have one-rather safe then sorry. Pack water, snacks & a couple blankets-cuz u know stuff happens. One of favorite areas in the whole USA. Have a great adventure!
It really depends on which trail, and at what altitude. You should be good on quite a few, that time of the season.
