I was doing a mountain bike tour of California, and MTB project recommended China camp State Park. Really enjoyed it! This had some decently technical single track, with great elevation, and some super fast and fun downhills. But some folks park on the road outside of the park and just pay the day fee while you can also pay a couple dollars more and get in park parking should you choose. The ranger at the front was super friendly and helped me get my bearings. Definitely want to go back!

Amazing place. Bring your bikes or bring a picnic. We had a great time with friends at the group campsite!

Great place for day picnic, bbq, hiking and mountain biking.

Holy Cow 🐄 This was my first time in the bay area and this was an amazing place to camp. Lots of beautiful trails with gorgeous views. I staid at the group campsite in January. The group campsite site was well maintained and easily accommodated our group of 15 (we all had individual tents as a mitigation strategy). It had a water spicket, porta potty, fire ring, picnic tables, and bear boxes (bring a lock!). There is a trail between the group camp site and the parking lot with the porta potties that bicyclist would zip through. The shower house is a 8-10 minute walk and located in the regular campground. Also, if you're not from, or familiar with the bay area, it is very VERY foggy. Pack plenty of extra layers and plan your gear accordingly. I would love to came back here in the future and stay in the regular campground.

Check strava for which trails to ride but China camp, Tamarancho (get a day pass from a cycle shop in fairfax), Soquel (near Santa Cruz) and Mount Tamalpais are great places to ride. Go to a Mikes Bikes or other local bike shop to ask about local trails.
The beach at China Camp had toddlers playing in the sand. The trail my husband and I took out of the campground was not steep. We think it was the Bay Trail. It was rolling but we only took it a mile or so.
Yes, check out below website for helpful details. Scroll down to the camping info. Friends of China Camp website: https://friendsofchinacamp.org/the-park/facilities/ Hope this is helpful. Have fun camping.
The bay is a long walk from all sites, group sites are slightly closer than the others though.
Yes
Drive there, fee is small like $5 for a day but I forget exact amount.
Yes you can buy food at a snack bar staffed by volunteers. It's right on the beach at the historic village. I was there on a Saturday in August 2018, and the snack bar was open until about 6 .
Not sure about lions but seen a lot of deer and small animals and its a beautiful place
I don't know the cost to tent camp. Great mountain biking, nice hikes and exploring the bay shore.
Gopher and garter snakes. Neither are dangerous whatsoever
I would check the website. I would advise that the weather is very cold in that area this time of year.
Open everyday. State Park
Yes there's several areas with grills, parking supposed to be $5 day, but when you pay with card at the kiosk they charge you more like $10. Lots of people parked in they road outside.
Visitors may barbecue in China Camp by using the fixed barbecues in the picnic areas. On "Red Flag" days, barbecuing is not permitted. Park hours are 8 AM to sunset.
