Our family loved racing at K1 Speed in Carlsbad. Friendly staff took care of us and our kids and ensured we had a great time. We also liked that the karts are electric instead of the older gas powered ones. Instant torque and no breathing fumes! The staff was really careful with the younger racers, gave them a full briefing on how to drive the cars, answered their questions, and made sure they were safe. The Jr racers have smaller karts and race separately from adults. The only downside was frequent slowdowns due to other drivers. It's pretty frustrating when you're on track for a great lap time and the staff has to switch everyone to slow mode for a caution. But that's how they keep everyone safe, and they're pretty good at it. I wish they'd give a couple of extra laps if there are a lot of cautions during a race.

My son and I had a very great experience at K1 Speed. This was our first time there and I noticed the staff’s number one priority was safety. They made sure we understood how to properly operate their race cars and they even checked to ensure our seatbelts were placed on our body properly. The staff was very nice and generous and answered any questions my son and I had. Customer service seems to be a thing of the past, but I must say the Staff at K1Speed has customer service down to a science. My son and I will definitely be back!!!

Fun times. It seems pricey until you think about the tech and the professionalism of the staff. It's well run and friendly. I took my daughter and her friend there for two races and the only thing I'd change next time is that I'd join them, probably for 3 races

First time there with 9 guys from our new Men's Fraternity, Oceanside First Presbyterian Church. Our 97 and 92 year old guys decided to race along with the much younger racers; what an inspiration they were. Everyone had a great time; the food was very good at a reasonable price and the staff was very helpful. I was hoping this first special event for our group would go well as and it exceeded my expectations. Thank you all at K1 Speed.

Racing suits are more for novelty here. If anything bring shock absorbing gloves and a headscarf.

While the speed of the karts is important, and the karts are fast enough, your driving skills are more important. There are hair turn curves where gross speed will only send you into a barrier.
There is a consent form that needs to be signed by a parent.
They have specials all of the time, but it's usually $55 for three races (each race is around 10 minutes each). That includes the annual membership as well. There isn't an age restriction, just a height restriction of 48". I thought it was pretty pricey at first, but once you race you'll be hooked. Plus it's basically 30 minutes of racing for that price. So I found it to be worth the price. Also, if you are military (or know someone who is) you can get the same package for only $33 on base at the Ticketing office. Hope this helps!
Per their website, there is no minimum age, but minimum height: Height requirement for ADULT karts is 4ft 10in (58″). All JUNIOR racers must be a minimum of 4ft (48″) tall to race.
