Nice campground but lots lots of bugs. You definitely need mosquitoes head nets and citronella repellents. The portable toilets are clean. We liked that is close to a neighborhood and the tribal police does regular checking rounds, it makes you feel safe. Be careful with the fire ants, I got bit and hurts horrible. Overall it was nice watching stars in the night and falling asleep to the sound of night creatures and be waken by the birds singing.

This hike is beautiful and gruelling. Very hot and has fly swarms for the entire hike. The same shade you use has triple the insect count of nonshaded areas. Be prepared bring extra water. $10 to get on the reservation.

Absolutely stunningly gorgeous! I own classic Ford Broncos and myself and my crew went for a ride to the very top. There are hot springs, campgrounds and endless trails for all levels of skill. Both for off-road vehicles and for hiking. I was very pleasantly surprised at the lack of human destruction and litter. Very clean. Amazing views including being able to see the Salton Sea from the top. Such a great place that we all plan to go again very soon. I also learned that it is the highest peak in San Diego county. As we climbed the mountain, we found ourselves in snow! Yet another pleasant surprise! Highly recommended to those who love nature and won't destroy it. Absolutely beautiful!

Questions & Answers

is it dog friendly

My group rented "most" of the entire campground. I know there were a few dogs present, but due to the remoteness of the site and lack of any others camping there at the time, I can't say whether there's a policy either way regarding dogs. I would guess dogs are OK with a standard of care & responsibilities. The camp is remote, and there will be reasons Pro and Con for dogs. I'd recommend checking at the entrance station if you can't do so ahead of your visit. There may be alerts or notices in effect that may impact your decision or on-site activities. But do visit the camp! Very unique vicinity. So quiet and peaceful.

are there hook ups for a small motorhome ?

No electric hook-up... Boil or purify water from bibs. No dump station for holding tanks...
