I was there in the early 1990s with a boy scout troop and we had a good time I was the scoutmaster at the time ! Great hiking. I nice starter camp exposing the new boy scouts on there first camping experience.

It's easy to get off trail because little to no blazes. We followed some carin(human made stacks of stones). Once we saw the pile of boulders, getting to it was easy. We got off trail on the way back but followed a dry creek to camp one.

During the week the campground is secluded and a lovely escape. There are fire pits and horse corrals at each site, and trails leading to the climbing area. The trail is marked with yellow tape and well worn. Although the stream is dry in the summer, the view up the trail is amazing. There are pit latrines, but poor ventilation and pretty full on last visit. Overall a great experience and would definitely go back!

Secluded campground within an hours drive of the city. Great place to escape for the weekend.

But there are serveral different campsites right around there too.
The largest site has parking for 4-5 vehicles. We fit about 25 people there. Some in tents, others in hammocks. Only two tables per site, so you may have to bring some along if you want more space. Many of the other spots are smaller and closer together.
I believe so, but if there is a lot of snow the roads may be closed. Just gotta check with highway patrol.
This is a first come, first serve campsite.
