Very enjoyable ~2 mile hike down an island to a secluded beach, with many side trails. There's also what looks like a good swimming beach quite close to the entrance. Parking was roadside, free, and abundant.

This island is a beautiful place to get away to. There’s such a verity of wildlife there that will captivate anyone, even the least outdoors-y. It offers a lot of options for trails through the woods (careful of ticks!) and a main paved way through the heart of the island to the far side. There’s a lot of beach to choose from for swimming, and the left side has a less wavy area for kids. Be careful of high tide, though! If you’re out on the beach, be aware of the time because the beach does disappear when the tide comes in, and you’ll be stuck walking through water or woods to get back.

Very glad I decided to stop here for a short, easy hike after spending the early afternoon in Belfast. With the snow melting, it felt like more of a workout in some areas, especially on the Green trail. I'll have to check it out again soon, especially during low tide along the coastline.

Loved our time here - far better than expected. Several trails around the island, both inland as well as out on the water. If you're in the area, well worth your time

Yes, there are two porta potties at the entrance to the island.
It’s used for training by Maine Maritime Academy.
We'd prefer you didn't. The Homestead Trail has bog bridges over wet areas and the Blue Trail also has some bog bridges and several wet areas where we need to install more bog bridges. Biking will erode the trails more and make them much worse for walking. Thanks for asking! FOSI
Both the eastern and western beaches are within a five-minute walk from the gate. The gate is only open for authorized personnel, like the cell phone companies who maintain the tower on the southern end of the island. Also, Friends of Sears Island, the land manager of the Conservation Area, can open the gate to more easily access the trails for maintenance work. Hope this answers your questions!
At your own risk as it should be.
No, but I agree with FOSI! Great place to go for a walk. If you bring your dog don't forget to clean up after them!
Sorry, but overnight camping is not permitted on Sears Island.
