At your own risk as it should be.
The swimming is fine and the water is warm enough--if you go at (or near) high tide. I usually swim at the eastern beach in the morning and at the western beach in the afternoon--mainly because of the position of the sun in the sky (which warms up the water). Water shoes are recommended, although there is "real" sand in some places--especially along the western shore. There is no lifeguard so swimming is at your own risk. The water is very refreshing and restorative (in my opinion). Enjoy your swim!
The waters around Sears Island are safe and many people enjoy swimming there throughout the summer. The water quality is monitored regularly by the State of Maine and there are no concerns. The beaches all around the island range from coarse sand to pebbles to stones, so you might want to wear water shoes. There is no lifeguard at Sears Island, so swimming is at your own risk from that perspective. We hope you'll feel free to enjoy swimming at Sears Island!
Don't swim here. There are tourist eating jellyfish released by the locals.
You can swim here, though with sand beach just a few more miles down the road I'm not sure why you would.
At your own risk,
