Don’t even bother applying. My boyfriend and I are currently looking for a place to live before our baby arrives in September. We applied to Bennington Heights and had lots of issues with the people in charge of leasing. We paid the $425 that it cost us just to apply. They needed more info/documents from us and kept threatening to cancel our application in 24 hours that we just paid $425 to submit. We provided the documents and then we are told that we need to pay an additional $800 with no reasoning. Then we are told it’s to “secure our application” because our income was borderline. We are young and knew that our income was borderline, which is why we added a guarantor. Our guarantor’s income was not taken into consideration. We were told that our guarantors income would only be taken into consideration if our own income was “fully insufficient.” Meaning we made too much money for our guarantor to be considered, but not enough money to avoid an $800 deposit to secure our spot.

Great Staff- I feel very welcome whenever I walk in the leasing office. They are very friendly and helpful. Especially Morgan. This young lady goes above and beyond her duty to understand your problems help you in every possible way. Excellent Location- This place is close to everything. You can walk to grocery, restaurants, shopping, just everything in within a few minutes. Also, its in one of the best school districts in St. Louis! The apartments are very reasonably priced, spacious and comes with good amenities. I would recommend this apartment.

I just reluctantly renewed my lease with Bennington Heights and can say I’m genuinely disappointed with them. Moving out was a thought however, when sending their lease renewal, they only gave it out about 2 weeks before it was required to give them a response. If moving out was the plan, they require two months notice, otherwise face heavy financial penalty to break a lease early (yearly lease rate being $879/month, up from $837/ month, or month to month for over $1700). I’ve been asking for the sliding glass doors to be replaced. Over half of the complex has new doors and it would save me so much air leakage in the winter. Every time I ask I’m reassured that “maintenance is making their rounds to get the rest of the apartments upgraded. Should be before the end of this year.” Swell, so just in time for yet another lease renewal with more rental increases? Thankfully, we’re entering warmer weather now, however I’ve had nothing but issues with my heater this past winter. Luckily anything heat is flagged as an emergency call and is always addressed within 1-2 hours. Good luck to you should you need any maintenance help and it is not classified as such. Please expect 4-6 weeks for any maintenance call to be answered. As for the heater, I put 3 calls to maintenance and they’ve come out to “fix” it but it’s never been the same. Any time I set my heat to be at 70 degrees overnight and I wake up at 3-4 am and it’s at 64 degrees or colder, and at this point, I’ve just given up calling them to fix things. To top off the insulting extra financial obligations for the same apartment, the complex is constantly in shambles. Birds/squirrels nests busting out of the awnings of many different buildings, wasp nests by my door, dead birds scattered the property, dumpsters always overflowing with old food trash and extra large furniture. The raccoons have themselves a field day regularly in all the dumpsters, leaving food trash everywhere, and there is no maintenance or grounds keeper that maintains this anymore. With inflation on the constant rise, I’ve sought out the Missouri rental assistance program that I definitely qualify for, however the complex has to respond to an email link I send to them so the rental assistance is sent to them directly. I went into the office in person and asked for the financial person and email I needed to send this to and without hesitation the front desk associate knew what application I was referring to and who the right contact was for me. When I sent the email, the system auto corrected it to a different person’s first name, but same last name. I walked back in to ask the girl about it and she said “yea it’s a mix up in the system but it was sent to the right person.” Since then, I have called, and emailed multiple times to see why it has taken so long on their part to get this addressed. I get absolutely no response from them. It's been beyond frustrating that an apartment complex is not JUMPING at the opportunity to help their residents get rental relief if they’re still getting paid. I could not be more disappointed with the constant blind eye turned to resident needs. I will most definitely be dropping in the next available chance I get and hope leaving this review will get some attention on our living conditions.

I’ve been renting my apartment here since the end of October and things have been fine until my dishwasher stopped working. The maintenance team is pretty good with attending to issues when a request is put in but I’ve been waiting on my dishwasher to be fixed for over a month. No one has even came to check it out. I call frequently and all they say is “we have over 1000 units to attend to”, okay but how many of them are dishwasher problems? I’m a nurse and I don’t always have time to stand and clean my dishes. I’m paying close to 1100 in rent for one of my essential amenities to not work? Not okay.
