The boardwalks have just been redone so they are very nice. The signage is also really well done so you can't get lost. We saw hundreds of purple martins

This place is beautiful--great for birding, kayaking, and general loving of nature. You can also avoid the Samsonite beach crowds by coming here. The greenheads are super annoying, so be prepared for that. But that shouldn't do you from visiting this great resource do close to Boston.

It is an enormous and clean park. Trails are well maintained easy access for the mobility challenge. There is Abundant wildlife to observe.

$5 admission fee. It was a bargain if you love to explore and walk, ride a bike 🚲, see giant windmills, birdwatch or hang out by the ocean 🌊. We went to the Hellcat Interpretive Trail so my kids could have any easy walk and their were a lot of great 👍 reviews for this trail. It was enjoyable. There was an observation tower that had a good view and we saw an airplane from a local airport fly overhead. Waterfowl were feeding nearby. Many other trails and observation areas along the way. Only issue, the unpaved road has huge potholes that needs to be filled! It can make driving challenging and hard on your vehicles' suspension. The road is paved up to the Hellcat Interpretive Trail. Place is popular. Parking 🅿️ can be a little challenging. I recommend a visit! Plan to stay for awhile. Bring food and drink. Bathrooms are available. ♿ Accessible to the handicap. Stroller friendly.

Parking lots 6 & 7 are open. Steps and ooverlook are repaired from damage from Nor'easters last March.
August, 13 - parking lots 1, 2, and 7 are open
Still around until approximately the end of July
Year round...as long the refuge is open you can walk it anytime
I was there on August 3rd all day. I did get bit 2 times in the parking area and then 0 the remainder of the day. They are usually gone this time of year. July is 👎!
How much does it cost
All paths are open except the hell cat trails which are closed for construction.
The lottery has occurred and the "winners" can pick up the forms at the Refuge Headquarters Visitors Center front desk or office receptionist. The permits are for the Refuge/US Fish & Wildlife Service. DCR is MA Commonwealth
The peak season has ended. Last Friday my wife and I kayaked on the Water Trail in the Great Salt Marsh. She got 4 bits and I got 1. One does not go near there when the nasty buggers are at peak. Their peak is full moon to full moon. This year we had a really high tide that killed most of them.
To the best of my knowledge it's open every day sunrise to sunset.
Only thing closed are parts of beach where there are nesting birds or when it is full.
20 bucks unless they have gone up...check their website
yeah unfortunately they are closed.
Not open. The boardwalk needs to be replaced. This is not because of winter wether.
I have not seen tundra swans there.
They would have been Mute Swans.
Yes. Snowy owl season. Went today found one of three known to live there
Good question. I think not because I haven't seen the usual notices in the Newburyport Daily News. Best to call the Wildlife Refuge Headquarters.
I have 2 ideas. Start by calling the MSPCA in Boston. Also a call to the Vermont Raptor Center to get their ideas. They have treated many wounded crows.
