Blue is my first ever rescue from a shelter. I had no idea what was going to happen or the process involved with adopting an animal. I was completely in awe of the care and dedication of the staff to insure the success when putting animals with owners. The animal and safety there of is the only concern. I appreciate all the hoops I had to go through to bring Blue home. The emotional departure I witnessed between Blue and the staff touched my heart. Thank you so much, I don't know who rescued who. What a horrible experience. My wife and I went to get her a puppy for mother's day. After three hours of waiting before we could even see a dog the one they were supposed to show us was gone even though their computers said she wasn't. Then the gentleman showed us another puppy that we actually liked. Go to do the adoption and they tell us out of nowhere that we need to bring our other dogs in for a meet and greet with the puppy. Then they wanted us to give them $25 dollar hold fee that was non refundable. I'm completely appalled with the way we were treated. I understand why this place has trouble with adoptions because of this bs. I honestly hope the people that run this place see this.

I'm very glad to have come here. I have adopted a beautiful black adult cat and she has already become my fluffy family. The process of adoption is quick and it was very straightforward. If you are renting, bring the landlord's number so that they can be contacted to confirm. Also, it is a great idea to get a crate to carry the cat in, especially if you plan to travel in the future anyway.

As a prior vet assistant, I can recognize great care of animals. Our family visited here once before my son enrolled in the reading program for dogs. We were impressed then and when my son met the resident dog Peppy who hung out with the kids, we knew he was destined to be part of our family. The staff and Veterinarian here are Fabulous. We feel adopting from here was the best decision for our family and are so happy to add Peppy to our family. Thank you to all who work so hard to make Humane Society of Marion County so wonderful for the dogs and cats living there. You all are fantastic!

Excellent. They try to match personalities of the dogs with possible adopters. Examples are certain dogs are good for kids, or if a dog who is a good jumper needing a high fenced in area is sought out. The animals are well cared for and if ever a animal needs to be given up by a adopter, they insist that the animal be brought back to them, so a new family can be found.
Thank you for inquiring. Due to limited space we recommend contacting the shelter at 352-873-7387 and asking for the cat intake coordinator. She will be able to let you know if there is currently any space available or if there is a waiting list.
I would gi in person so yoy can see facility and meet the staff and they will be able to direct you in the right direction
Absolutely. They accept any and all donations. They will be thrilled
That's pretty much it... the kittens cost $50 and the cats are $25. Also, bring something to take the kitten home in. Such as a carrying cage.
We are always accepting applications for people with animal experience. Please feel free to fill out an application in person at the shelter. We are located at 701 NW 14th Rd, Ocala, FL, 34475.
No unfortunately they don't help people at all only animals, you might try TLC I've heard they help the disabled, Medicaid, You might call Children and families I know they help and vocational rehabilitation can also help you.
Hello, and thank you for inquiring! If you are 18 years of age and over you can look at our available dogs and cats. If you are under the age of 18, you need to be accompanied by an adult. If you're interested in adopting, our adoption policy requires adopters to be at least 21 years of age.
Thank you for asking! We recommend TLC PetSnip or Marion County Animal Services. TLC PetSnip (352) 644-7647 Marion County Animal Services (352) 671-8700
Next Step, what size is he?? Also, are you close to SR 35/ Baseline Rd??
Sorry but the Humane Society of Marion County only provides medical treatment to animals in our care. We recommend checking with TLC PetSnip. They are a low cost vet clinic located in Ocala and are highly reputable. They can be reached at (352) 644-7647.
Great animals that are taken care of very well. The dogs love the workers and feel as if that is their home.
I don't know...you'll have to call them, sometimes they have special prices
Check lost and found pets of Marion County on Facebook. They post any animals found and brought to the shelter there. Also check their own Facebook under Humane Society of Marion County.
Yes they do they will take good care of her we just adopted one three months ago
No but you need to call them to make an appointment. They won't automatically take a pet, they have conditions and will refuse a pet if it doesn't meet them.
Unfortunately we do not offer any boarding services for the public at this time. However, we do recommend a few different options: Cuddlebugs Pet Resort, Red Fern Pet Resort, Palmetto Kennels, and Always There Animal Care. Please let us know if you have any questions or need anything else. Thanks!
Yes he's suffering do the right thing I know it's hard but put him down
u
it changes alot.. if not other rescues in Ocala such as VOCAL OR OHAR May have some
Yes, great people there... give them a call!
I believe they do not board dogs as they have insufficient room for any more dogs.
It helps so much, and yes the animals use every thing donated to the shelter
Yes
A good home may not like her behavior. The dog needs to be on a farm.
I think the humane society of Marion County should let people know the rules and regulations about pet adoption. They should let the applicants know the policy about pet adoption especially for the applicant who never own a pet before.
There are 2 mobile vets that can help you. Good people. Google mobile vets.
Thank you for inquiring. We recommend reaching out to Marion County Animal Services. They work with animal control and may be able to assist. They can be reached at 352-671-8700.
Humane Society
Hello and thank you for inquiring. Please contact Marion County Animal Services at 352-671-8700.
I have a year old long hair Lab. My wife is dealing with chemo right now and the pup is just too much.
You should call them to ask if an animal is still available
Thank you for inquiring. The Humane Society of Marion County is a no-kill shelter.
Thank you for inquiring. All of our adoptable shelter pets have been microchipped, vaccinated and spayed/neutered.
Sorry but we are unsure of local facilities that offer no cost euthanasia. TLC PetSnip offers low cost, highly reputable veterinarian services in the Ocala area. https://tlcpetsnip.org/euthanasia
You can use A Vet
Who donated dog food
They sometimes do have puppies, they keep them in the front by them. They go quickly. Call ahead
Thank you for inquiring. At this time we do not have any Catahoulas available. We recommend checking our websites "animals for adoption" section where you can view an up to date listing of our available shelter pets looking for loving forever homes. http://thehsmc.org/animals-for-adoption/
Best to call first to see if they have room... 873-PETS
Staff will evaluate the dog and then decide. They don't take every dog brought in.
Thank you for inquiring. We require our staff to be atleast 18 years of age.
Thank you for inquiring. We require our employees to be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Try Marion county Nuter computer. they are very well priced.
Thank you for inquiring. All dogs over the age of 1 year are $99 Puppies under the age of 1 year are $120 This price includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip and a cool leash with collar to safely travel home.
You have to fill out an application, pay the adoption fee, and do a meet and greet with your other dogs (if you have any) at the Humane Society facility
They're a very busy location and under staffed. It really is a great facility.
Thanks ! One of the rescues hooked me up with a lady who needed a home for her horse ;-)
Thank you for inquiring. We recommend reaching out to Marion County Animal Services at 352-671-8700.
You may want to call the pound for some advice and what can or cannot be done thank you though for your concern
Yes, they do. When you get your pet you register them on a website.
Best answer to your question is make a call they'll let you know
Nothing is free. Adoptions cost money for a reason. The animals at HS are given veterinary care, spayed or neutered and given vaccinations. It costs money to feed and house them until they are adopted. Hence the adoption fee.
I'm 12 and my friend said that she started volunteering there before 12 so I believe that they would allow you to volunteer unless they have changed their rules.
Take him to the Humane Society
Yes they do. Sorry for your lost.🐾
When they are not full they do. Last couple times I've been there they were full though.
Yes they will probably take him post a pic and somebody online May take him
I'm not trying to pull the race card but it is so obvious they dont treat US the same way they treat others! a kitten will miss out on a wonderful home full of love because I'm a african American and I dont own my home but I have a very loving family and we do everything modern families do including loving animals that sit in cages not getting the 1 on 1 love they need every day that's why I left in tears
I believe it's posted on their website when they do them
Are you talking when you adopt from them? Most shots are done. Including first round of rabies for 1 yr. And microchip.. License tag you can just get from vet, once animal is affiliated.. like $30 or go to one on baseline.. not sure cost there.
Ditto
You need to call them on that, as they ask you for proof of rabies and probably other information, whatever their protocal is...
Yes you can
You got the answer no point repeating it merry Christmas
They are now known as The Humane Society of North Central FL. Their website should have all of your answers. Go to: humanesocietyncfl.org
Thanks for asking. Absolutely! Our adoption specialists strive to help potential adopters find their perfect match at our facility.
You walk around and find a dog that you are interested in. They can give you some history if they have any. They can make an educated guess at what type of dog it is. They may be familiar with the personalities of some of the do9, at least how they act in their kennel. You can visit with the dogs
No im sorry we do not but you can reach out on the fb animal sights for someone to help or we can give you a list of rescues that are foster base and see if they can help. Good luck and i hope all turns out ok
Why are you trying to go there 5 minutes before they close?
It cost me $25-$35, I think Don't remember.
I do not believe they have a clinic for the public, I heard there is a nurder bus that go's around and you used to be able to drop off and pick your pet up a couple days later, or a vet. You really have to call cause I have never ask them those questions.
Haven't known them to do so, but anything is possible
Thank you....will call in morning....
Yes they will chip check for free I've seen it done twice now. As long as the chip number pulls up in the database they can locate their owner
what kind of breed puppies do u have
They usually do it before they leave, you will have to call or and see if they will do it when they get older
No
Kittens are more expensive then adults. $50/$25 kitten/adult cat, but have specials too.
It's called the Doggone Reading Program. It's on Saturdays twice a month. Call to the shelter and apply. It's a popular program and space is limited.
Very small bugs disable the bugs by slightly crushing them nothing that has stingers or would hurt the bird and if you think you could do it you could cut up a worm
They can probably help
Call the Humane Society first. Lately they and most shelters have been near capacity and are not taking many animals, but call first, it's been a day to day situation and there might be room. Anyway, if they have the room you still have to make an appointment in advancd.
Have to call, there's a form to fill out.
I donate every now and then. Wouldn't mind helping your pup get home but how did it wind up at the humane society if you were taking care of it.
I'll pray that you find her soon!
Dont understand question
They sell low cost spay and neuter certificates that can be used at a number of local veterinarians. They cost $50 for cats and can be purchased at the shelter.
Hours are 10 am to 6pm Thursday through Tuesday. Closed to the public all day on Wednesday. Adoptions started up to 5:30pm, as that application process typically takes 30 minutes.
Your right it is a no kill but call them first to make sure they have room
The Humane Society should be able to help.
The Marion County Animal Control Center is a KILL SHELTER. However the Humane Society of Marion County is a NO KILL SHELTER. Never surrender an animal to the Marion County Animal Control Center because they are extremely cruel and unethical, you should always try the Humane Society first. The HSMC is a No Kill shelter and a Non-Profit organization.
Call them to find out i know for volunteers there is a class you take not sure about community service its diffrent there are alot that do it there see them when i volunteer they are nice people just call them
She normally isn't rude been there many times and always been very nice

The one by the bridge off Pine Ave is a no kill facility.
They stay until adopted.
Thank you for inquiring. We do not offer medical services to animals outside of our care. We do recommend TLC PetSnip though. They are a low cost, highly reputable vet clinic located in Ocala. They can be reached at (352) 644-7647 and they also have their prices listed on their website. https://tlcpetsnip.org/
