Super fun day! Warm water.. prepare for the rocks.. Wear water shoes if you plan to play in the water. Not so good for kids if kids are not surfing if they want to play in the water.... Volley Ball players be prepared to wet down sand, gets blazing hot! Final tip... Get there early 6am much after that be prepared for 2 hour wait time during peak spring & summer times.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. There are a few issues to be aware of: - The highway noise is a bit worse than I expected. - The sites are pretty close together. - The showers are out door showers and are covered in bees. Some positives: - Short walk to the beach (steep in a couple spots) - Picnic table and fire pits are provided

Easy access but not much to offer! Beach access is about 15-20 min walk and some of the trails are closed or not easy access specially if you have stuff to carry. Mostly rocky and not fun for any sand sports. Restroom were ok.

Stayed here for four days dry camping In a trailer with wife and kiddos. Check-in/check-out easy and quick. Beach right down the hill from dry camping area (used to be a baseball field). Cottages, tents sites and full hookups also available here. Has bathrooms/shower area which is nice as the water is quick to get warm in the mornings. Beautiful beach though quite rocky in some areas. Good surfing and within walking distance to Trestles. Quiet hours were observed by neighbors which is a huge plus. Hiking/biking trails near by. Quick access to MCX/Commissary is a plus. Will be staying here again as it is not to crowded of a beach.

Yes park at far end go to trail6 hike down see ocean go left by the fence and past is all nude enjoy have coverups because shore patrol and Rangers can drive by but never do.
Yes ...trail 1 and trail 6 allow dogs, super cool place to let your dogs run free on the beach 🐕⛱
They are allowed, must be on leash and pick up after them!!
Yes, reservations are recommended. But, in the middle of the week you might be able to find open sites. Weekends are full!
Yea its great to walk on n its sandy not cliffs or rocks
It is open most days till sunset. Just pay the day pass, $15.
Use of nudity was ignored for many years at Trail 6 (the southernmost path to the beach). Nudity is no longer tolerated there. Legal fights are continuing. Prior to banning nudity, there were no age limits as this practice was not officially allowed/encouraged.
Cookie... get off your fantasies. Group up and then you can get answers.
No locks. Yes overnight arrivals are welcome.
Don't go naked and since you brought it up what work did you have done
15 to pay then 10 to dump You might want to ask The office if you just can dump.
I see dogs on the sandy parts of the beach often. However unlike dog beach everyone seems to have their dog on a leash. Not sure if that's their choice or mandatory.
Yes you can fish
Where we parked was a small area, but I'm sure you could find a spot.
Yes park at far end go to trail6 hike down dirt path go left past lifeguard empty tower #6 usually go to gate around and past all nude enjoy shore patrol or Rangers may come just have coverups they Dont usually however
Yes, the rocks are still covering the beach shores, there are patches to sand to get to the water, but it's mostly rock. FYI it may have been built this way to keep the sharks off the beach.
The fee is for parking. You can do drop off at the park entrance at the top of the cliff and let your riders walk down to the beach for free. Kinda far to carry a board though.
The San Onofre Bluffs campground is usually booked solid from April-October, you go to their website and check availability through a company that handles camping reservations. If it's an extended stay try to plan 6 months in advance, conversely if it's a one night stand you may find a open spot here and there especially on weekdays. Again if you don't mind being on the east side of Hwy 5, the San Mateo campground is slightly less frequented. Out of state people should be paying double!
Levi's levis must be constricting blood flow to the brain! The popular surf spot San Onofre is just north of the now defunct nuclear power plant, it costs $15 for day use, and closes around 8-9pm, there is also a San Onofre "Bluffs" campground where you can camp for the aforementioned $70per night. If you get zonie blocked there is also the San Mateo campground just across Hwy 5 up a nearby beautiful valley that they want to pave over with a toll road. The bluffs are more rustic than most campgrounds, have longish trails to the beach, and showers with bees the last time I was there. Still one of my faves, and a fun fact, it has an offshore nursery for juvenile great whites. Enjoy
Yes, on the far beach down huge hill, there is a sign at the bottom of the hill
