Not really, you can renew it via online. Unless, you want a current picture on your license then you must go and take a new picture.

If you've never had at least an id then you will need to have your birth certificate or passport and at least one proof of address. You don't need to have your social but you will need to at least know the number. If you're under 17 1/2 you also need to have the drivers ed certificate

The kiosk machine is located inside of the building but you don't have to wait in line. Just ask one of the employees at the like that you just need to use the kiosk machine and they will let you in. It will give you your tags there as long as the vehicle does not require a smog test or the vehicle has passed the smog test required You can also pay for them if you still need to do the smog test (to avoid late fees) and once the smog technician has passed the vehicle and sent the information to the DMV your tags will then arrive in the mail.

Worst case scenario, print out the confirmation that you submitted your renewal. Also, carry your expired license as well. FWIW, my license arrived in the mail pretty quickly...less than two weeks.

Hi 😋 You will need to set up the appointment over the phone or online at your nearest DMV location.

If you already did your written, then step #2 is come with someone with a valid drivers license, dependable car, and proof of insurance. Make sure all lights on car are working because it will have to pass inspection. And make sure you don't get behind the wheel untill instructed by a DMV instructor. Also best thing is to make an appointment because the waiting is ridiculous.
