It's such a nice cozy place, has a nice old school vibe to it that's just comforting (at least for me). My buddy Rene and I always enjoy going there and talking to Rick who is just a great guy. While it is a small shop it does have a pretty good selection of lures and gear. 100% recommend this place, not many fly shops in the area have the same grass roots feel to it like this place

I have been shopping occasionally at Stroud's since moving to San Diego in 2006. I've found Rick, the fly shop manager, to be helpful and very knowledgeable about fly fishing salt water of our bay to the regional ponds and reservoirs for the fresh water species. If you're beginning your fly fishing journey or a seasoned addict, Stroud's is a great resource for gear and insightful information.

Amazing experience at Stroud tackle today! My Dad left me a lot of fishing poles and equipment when he passed away. I gave most of them away but kept a few in hopes that I'd learn to fish one of these days. A couple of the polls were fly rods. Mel from San Diego Fly Fishers recommended I talk to Rick at Strouds. I'm so glad I did! Rick was amazingly great in helping me figure out what I had and what I needed! I always respect people that put Integrity above business. That is Rick! He told me what I had would work fine as a beginner. I have hundreds of flies that my Dad left me but I I went ahead and bought some from Rick because I appreciated all of his help! If you need any fishing tackle, do not hesitate to visit Rick at Stroud! He has everything you need!

This is a great fly fishing shop. The owner Rick and I just met when I came here the first time and come to find out that we both graduated from Kearney class of 74 together large class of 850 people and it took 44 years for us to meet. Great place to go he will take care of you very knowledgeable and just a great guy.

Masks are required in accordance with current County Health directives. Due to the small size of the shop, we may ask customers to wait outside until there is sufficient room inside to allow distancing. This potential wait only occurs very rarely as there is room for 4-6 customers with distancing. Hand sanitizer is available at the counter. The shop does not have public restrooms.
We do not sell Sputnik sinkers. We are a fly fishing specialty store. The only type of weights that we sell are small split shot suitable for subsurface fly fishing applications.
We currently do not stock the HDZ but can special order.
