I applied for my passport here and the staff is so lovely. I was about ten minutes late as I was driving from Riverside and hit some gnarly traffic. They still helped me out and didn’t make me feel bad for being late. Liz is the agent who helped me with my photo and my application. She was so incredibly friendly and made sure that all of my questions were answered. Liz was also very informative and let me know what the next steps were, how to track my application progress, etc. They office sells money orders to send with your passport application to the Department of State for a dollar and change. They only accept cash or check, no debit cards but that’s also stated online and there is plenty of signage for your awareness. I didn’t have a wait time. I was seen immediately, as I was the only person there. Overall a pretty easy process so long as you have all of the documentation you need. The Clerk website lists exactly what you’ll need and you can find that information anywhere online as well. It’s worth it to take a few minutes to research all of that before you go. That’s how I was in and out in about 20 minutes.Traveling is exciting and the process of getting ready can be overwhelming but they truly alleviated a lot of the stress I initially felt. Thank you for a smooth experience.

If you let your passport expire past the time you're able to renew by mail, and you end up doing the walk-in thing, expect to wait for about 3 hours to get it done. The line will stretch from the counter to Otay. Don't do it. On the positive side, there is a parking garage, the employees are pretty nice and they're efficient as they can, they have photo services if you need it, and there is an ATM on site to pay with cash. Otherwise, bring like 3 blank checks with your application. If you can, renew by mail. Renew by mail. RENEW. BY. MAIL.

Yes, it's open. Shutdown was months ago, and federal only. This office is a county office.
Completed DS-11 application, proof of US citizenship, valid ID, check or cash for payment, passport photos available on-site
It varies depending on what options you need or choose. I just paid $170 for expedited renewal of a passport, plus $35 to San Diego County.

Can we do a walk in with no appointment today for new application for a minor?
Application, birth certificate or proof of citizenship, two money orders (one of 80 dollars and another of 25 dollars.), And two photos. For a minor, two parents must show up. The application explains if only one is presented. They also take pictures there in the office.
No appointment is required in this office. A passport costs $ 135 dollars for 16 and older. It costs $ 105 for a child under 16 years.
