The management in the office seems nice enough so I do feel bad leaving this review but it doesn’t seem they have the support to get things done. Ever since I moved in last August, the front gate hasn’t worked. It just sits open 24/7. Then a few months ago the back exit gate stopped opening. For a while they left it open so people could still leave that way but now it’s closed 24/7. Making it a huge inconvenience to go anywhere. Because of the lightrail, unless you can catch it when it’s not there, it now takes an extra 10-15 minutes to go any direction other than north. And since that happened they now leave the front exit gate open 24/7. Since the two gates that all the homeless people walk by are wide open all day, it allows them to walk in whenever. I’ve seen them passed out across the community, diving in dumpsters and even going from car to car trying to find an unlocked one. I had to scare that one off myself because the security team never responds and it takes forever for the cops to come out anywhere. I know gates don’t 100% prevent these things but leaving them open all the time surely isn’t helping. Ive seen a homeless person literally turn around after walking past the gate when he realized it wasn’t going to close. Also it’d be nice if the pools weren’t green most of the time. Again, it does seem the people working here want to help, but there needs to be follow through. It shouldn’t takes months/years to get the gates fixed because apparently this was an issue before I moved in almost a year ago.

My favorite place to live. Even when I needed my ac fixed, they were there same day and done by the next day. It has great flooring and interior design. Everything has improved since I've moved in a year ago. The staff is friendly and professional. Keep up the great work

I do not suggest this Apt Complex to Anybody. The Maintenance takes Months to get stuff Fixed in People's Apts. We had a Leak in Our Son's Bathroom, We Told the Office and it took Them 3 Months to get it Fixed so We ended up getting Black Mold because of it. And now We had a Leak in Our Kitchen Saturday Night so We had a Flood in Our whole Apt. We Called Emergency Maintenance and They did not want to Deal with it. Now it is Monday and Nobody has been Out to Fix it and it is still Leaking. I E-Mailed the Manager and Called the Office and nothing is being done to get it fixed

I lived at Mission Shadows/Azul apartments for approximately 7 years. The management staff that took over when the name was changed from Mission Shadows to Azul (and painted the tacky blue walls and balls, etc.) where obviously not trained well in apartment maintenance and customer service. The entire staff tended to bark orders at residents and not treat them with respect. They raised my rent each year by the maximum allowed and when they began to charge $1100 for the small one bedroom and more for larger models it forced out most of the long term residents including us. There were severe roach problems throughout our building that management could not control. Often residents brought bags of dead bugs to the office to show management. Often the brash staff would accuse the resident of being untidy and even dirty. Many occupants moved out when the roaches travelled from apartment to apartment through the walls. We had to leave our apartment when water started pouring through our ceiling, flooding our kitchen and bathroom. We had to ask the electrical company to cut our power fearing electrocution and possible fire. They were not helpful fixing this water leak in a timely manner. Black mold soon grew on walls and cracked wet areas in the walls and ceiling. We lost many of our own electrical appliances such as our microwave and other electrical appliances. We chose to pay the Azul Property Insurance with our rent that was supposed to cover the unit to $100,000 and should have covered all of the damages. However, after we moved out, Azul attempted to file a civil claim against us in an attempt to force us to pay for the damages ourselves. Be aware that this apartment management has raised the rent each year and now are charging double or more what residents were paying just 4 years ago. No doubt in this current market they will continue raising rents to amounts that will continue to cause residents to leave. If you DO decide to rent at Azul we suggest you inspect all accessible areas and look for insects and molds in bathrooms and kitchens.Take photos of all items, place them on a list, and keep on them until they fix all items. Also, during our stay our apartment was burglarized and most of our computers, phones, wide-screen TV, and stereo equipment were stolen -- while we were asleep in the bedroom! And a neighbor let a criminal stay in the apartment next door. We were verbally abused and our lives were threatened by this criminal who was finally arrested and jailed by Phoenix Police. The management did not respond to this serious situation until the police made the arrest and advised management. It was our experience that the traffic gate system (when it wasn't broken and left wide open) had no effect on reducing crime in the complex. We suggest you use the free online service of Phoenix Police that will indicate all crimes committed in a specific area by day and time, and see for yourself whether the neighborhood is safe or not. It's too bad. It used to be a great apartment complex with helpful management that knew how to treat residents with respect and dignity.
