NICEST people AND I've been to a LOT of HERTZ as a Gold Member for the past 25 years. I had such a bad experience in Maui I just had to comment about Portland. I picked up my car April 8, 4:15pm and the whole team there could not have been more friendly, helpful in choosing a car, efficient. They were GREAT. thank you!!

I am so dissatisfied. I was told that they would refill the car on return for me at a rate of 4.99 per gallon which was better than the prices currently in Portland. They did not tell me they would charge me for the entire tank of gas at that price. They said they would top it off at the end of the trip. I never would have agreed if they would have been up front and honest. That is just a rip off. Unless you plan on returning the car completely empty. Maybe they lady needs more training. The lady at the counter was grumpy and unfriendly. Called and complained but would not refund my money or part of it.

Worst rental car experience I’ve ever had. We’ve now been waiting two hours in line for our rental car. We’ve officially missed our lunch reservation and I wouldn’t doubt we wait another hour. DO NOT rent a car from this location without setting up Hertz Gold. That line is long but seems to only take one hour. Hertz I’m very loyal to you in Chicago but this is outrageous. Once we finally got a car the car they assigned us one that wasn’t in the lot… thanks Hertz for ruining the first day of our vacation. Your ability to service customers is appalling.

Reserved a car on line through Priceline. Waited in line for an hour, then told we had to wait another 20 or so minutes before the car would be ready. Where's the customer service especially with the outrageous prices? Won't use Hertz again.

I'm not sure that there is a specific fee to drop off at a place that is not the original pick up place. I had recently picked up at PDX and dropped off at SEA with a fixed quote. Their site indicates there is a return change fee applied if you return the car to a different location than what had been scheduled at rental.
Yes, if you do it on the Hertz web site. It will tell exactly what the cost will be. Portland to LA will be more costly.

You cannot leave your car at Hertz airport location. An option would be to rent at an off-airport Hertz and leave your car there. Usually you can leave it for several days for free, but call that location to be sure. Here is a nearby Hertz: 12136 SE Stark St, Portland, OR 97216

Some one will always be at the airport to assist you. I recommend returning the vehicle to an actual hertz team member, I believe they're at the airport 24/7. :-)
