I chose Dollar when I flew into Portland this week because they had a high "recommended" score from Expedia. However, when I got there to check in, I had the wrong date for my check-in (I was one day early). They wanted to charge me 50% more not only for the one day I was early, but for my entire booking. The gentleman was surly, mocking, and rude. I will never use Dollar again. I went next door to Sixt and they were helpful, pleasant, and I got a much better car.

We had a super smooth experience with Dollar! I joined the free express program so that we could skip the counter, and they had my envelope and keys fully ready to go when I walked out to the garage! Bringing it back took <5 minutes, and they weren't sticklers by any means. We rented an economy car, drove 2+ hours both north and south of the city, and only had to fill up on gas once!

Rented a Jeep for 4 days = $995... $380 was the vehicle itself then taxes, insurances and other misc charges added up fast... I put over 1000 miles on that bad boy though. Went from the West Coast beaches, through the Forests, up the mountains into Snow flurries then to the Desert into some caves. Enjoyed the ride not the high taxes but its a liberal state so I understood 👍

Reserved a rental through Priceline. This company does accept debit cards but they run a credit check (for both drivers) and ask for flight information in additional a $500 hold which wasn’t a problem with me. I find this very common with a lot of rental companies when I travel. Jim is awesome! He provided fast, friendly service. He was kind enough to upgrade us to a full sized SUV. Thank you Jim! We appreciate you! The car was cleaned and we had no issues with the rental. 4 stars because when I called to ask where drop off was the guy that answered the phone was not friendly at all.

No need for any shuttle, simply follow sign for car rentals. BUT, cross the street above ground when signs disappear it's faster than down the stairs. A lady was so nice to point this out to us! When returning the car, you'll just have to cross the street and then go to departures, a charm!
Return the car to the terminal. Just follow the signs for car rental return.
They have a car rental building at the terminal. I would recommend making a reservation
Just walk across from the terminal into the parking garage and I believe it's only 3rd or the 4th floor. It's easily identified in the elevators.

I wouldn't see why not. Even though I don't work there i was able to get the car I wanted after an am flight from Tampa.
They might allow you to rent with a debit card if you leave as a deposit the entire cost of the rental plus a set retainer fee. Enterprise allowed us to do that in Canada. You should call the car rental office directly and ask.
