The only reason this gets any stars is the deli. The elevators break down once a month. Today ALL elevators in the building were down. And their license to operate expired 1/2022. Completely unacceptable. I have reported them.

LJX is one of the most poorly run and over priced complexes I have ever encountered. The fact that they are advertising 1 BDR units for $3000 is an absolute scam. Appliances are decades old and maintenance doesn’t do anything but put a band aide fix on very large issues. I had a pipe burst in the wall of my unit and they told me it’s bc i use too much laundry detergent (????) and then spent 7 days in and out of my unit. There was no apology, compensation or nothing for the extreme inconvenience. There is ZERO security in the complex and there isn’t a single security camera in the complex. My neighbors were arrested a month or so ago and nothing was done or communicated with residents. There is constantly cops at LJX for theft, car break ins and much worse. (Don’t forget about the shooting that happened years ago here that LJX covers up) The complex does NOTHING about anything and it is simply “not their problem”. The leasing office is neglectful and entitled. You get a new person every time you reach out to them and you’re lucky if you get a response. Maintenance ignores service requests and there is constant mold, mildew, bugs (currently have termites and i can bet $200 that they just patch up the termite holes and call it a day)and noise. Walls are paper thin. My most recent experience with Ben and Carlos has led to this review. Hallways are covered in peeling and ripped wall paper. Water and mold are seeping through and LJX could care less about the health of residents (already submitted a complaint for health code violations w the city of San Diego). Carpets are stained and molded from leaking and broken pipes. Pipes constantly leak in the garages and ruins cars. Elevators are constantly broken and out of order. Certs have been past expiration for long periods of time. The parking garage gates rarely function and invite all to the resident parking rather than the security they’re there to offer. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Lots of pros and cons at LJX but overall I've been happy. We live in building 9155 which is a pet friendly building that I love except one annoying dog that never shuts up despite complaints. Overall the complex is quiet with the exception of screaming children at the pools or playgrounds on the weekends. The entire complex is extremely pet friendly and you will always see dogs being walked in the area, but the grounds are always clean. Most people do a good job of cleaning up after their pets and if not the landscaping team must. I always see cleaning crew sweeping the sidewalks and taking out trash so it looks well kept. The pools and gym are upscale and well kept. we get access to the 360 complex gym and basketball court which is gorgeous. You need a key to get through gates and a fob to get into Garages, but unfortunately there have still been reports of car break ins and my bike got stolen from the bike rack. There are security guards but they just stand around outside. In the summer they do come by the pool to check that you are a resident though. These are the largest apartments you'll see in the UTC area which I feel justifies the high rent, I just wish they would Update the finishes. Washer dryer In unit and huge living space and underground parking. Guest spots are hard to snag and unfortunately there's no street parking nearby so friends have to walk from Renaissance Ave. The finishes are underwhelming and our floors are carpeted so that's a con. we have a North facing balcony so the apartment is dark and patio never gets sun. I will say the leasing office is slow to complete anything and hard to reach, but luckily I haven't had any major issues. Maintenance is awesome though! They come and fix things quickly. Update 2021: Rent did not get raised much at all. We moved to a different unit that faces east which gets much more natural light. Building 9135 is a bit louder since it overlooks the main courtyard. Overall still happy here! Update 2022: rent got raised 9% this year, not surprising due to the high rents all over San Diego. I do not think these apts are worth 3k/month (nothing has been updated since we moved in 2018) but I guess that’s just the going rate in UTC now, so LJX is gonna charge it. We’re moving out! Ps. You never get your deposit back so kiss it goodbye

LJ Crossroads has a lot to offer, only if it wasn't run by such poor management. We lived here for 3 years back in 2007-2010 and then again 2020-2022. They have improved their fire alarm systems, car break-ins weren't an issue for us, and the cleanliness of the common areas was top notch (especially during Covid). The broken elevators were still a huge annoyance! The reason for this 2-star review is a scam trap they run for lease breaks. I hope this review will help others not to make the same mistake as us. We were moving out of state and had to break our lease, knowing we would be liable for 1-month rent. What we didn't know is in fine print on the DocuSign it said that if we don't pay the full amount prior to turning in the keys, we would default to being "rent responsible" until a new tenant moves in. Our mistake, we simply missed that section. However, the amount owed wasn't shown on ClickPay (electronic method of payment) nor did we receive a single reminder by mail or email. In fact, when we turned in the keys, LJ Crossroads associate told us we would receive all information in the mail (including amount owed for last month and the calculation for the remaining deposit). We simply assumed they would mail us a bill for the one-month rent minus the deposit. That wasn't the case. It wasn't until a month later, that we received notice in the mail that because the lease break amount wasn't paid in full, we defaulted to being "rent responsible". Here is the kicker: it took management almost 3 months to occupy our unit in the rental market where the associates said our floor model (2 bedrooms w/loft) was renting like "hot cakes". When we called to "check", they said no units were available in our floor model. When someone finally put a deposit, they gave them almost 3 weeks to move in - while we were still "rent responsible". It was clear, the management was in no rush to rent the unit and likely wasn't put on the market when we originally gave our 30-day notice. Why would they if we were footing the bill? Don't fall into the same trap as us. If you have to lease break, make sure you pay the full amount BEFORE moving out. LJ Crossroads is a beautiful community - although it's not worth the rent they're currently charging. We hope their management will start focusing on the customer experience and not scamming residents to make extra $$$.
