I was nervous about the trail at first because it’s a 1,050 feet elevation gain in roughly 2 miles, but the trail was such a steady incline it didn’t feel physically demanding. The path was easy to follow with great views all around. At the top, the blue lake is gorgeous. We even saw a mountain goat who was surprisingly calm. It is a must do hike.

This was a beautiful hike! Lots of views on the way, and it was a nice blend of rigor and moseying. I will definitely plan on hiking again! :)

We ended up coming to do Blue Lake because we were disappointed we didn't get any views on Maple Pass. The parking lot was full at 10:40. Blue Lake is a pretty easy trail, it is very gradual most of the way to the lake. It took us 55 minutes to get to the lake and we spent about 45 minutes just relaxing and walking around the lake. There is not really any snow until you hit the lake, there is quite a bit of mud on the trail so just make sure to wear the right shoes. We really wanted to see some goats but unfortunately didn't see any. We will be back in the fall to do Maple Pass again and see some views and then do Blue Lake with the larches. Highly recommend coming here!

Larches are beautiful right now! Easy and short trail with rewarding views at the top. Arrived at around 10:00am on Sunday and there were already cars parked along the highway, but its a short walk from there to the trail. Seemed a like a lot less cars compared to Maple Pass. The drive was long but very scenic along highway 20 with lakes, rivers, mountains and fall foliage. Took 1.5 hrs to get to the top. Take the “tarn loop” at the top for some more beautiful views of lake and larches. 1 hour to hike back down.

Took us an hour to get up and about 40 minutes to get down. I would plan to spend about 3 hours at least if you want to really enjoy it.
