Not much shade cover, so be ready. And the stairs during the final stretch of this hike are no joke! Wear shoes with good traction, can get steep at times. View from up top were definitely worth it.

Don't be full by the 2.3 miles, for me was difficult because how quick I was going and I don't do great with elevation, when I started to slow down that's when I enjoyed it, beautiful view, dog friendly with leash at all times, I went on a Thursday and the traffic was great!

I burned 700 calories doing this trail! It's really pretty, and worth the view. Coming back down was a little trickier since it's steep, so wear shoes with good traction.

I have an affinity and love for Mission Trails. The trails are well cared for, and you couldn't ask for a more accessible location. It's impressive how this natural park can be situated smack in a central location to just about anywhere in San Diego, yet maintain its natural beauty and feeling of isolation. Kwaay Paay mountain is central to the park, but the trail heads (there are two) are only found on the east side of the park. Being just over a mile oh, it's a super short trail. It starts out as more of a rolling, gentle climb, and gets a little more intense near the end. As you close in on the peak, there are a few areas that are going to require some rock scrambling, although it's nothing that can't be handled easily with a trekking pole. Have fun!
