This is super important information for folks who don’t use hiking apps!!! First the lake is gorgeous and ideal for families picnics and fishing as well as chilling.THE HIKE IS NOT A LOOP IT 5 miles and it’s not a loop

Peaceful, flat out and back walk on asphalt path. There’s tons of smaller paths that trail off for adventures but beware of danger noodles (snakes). The trail is not a loop. It’s heavily trafficked but not crowded. There are smaller places hidden away so you can find quiet spots to sit and relax.

I love walking Lake Murray. I took my friend there for her first time and she didn't believe me when I told her you can't go in a circle around the trail, you must turn back. She finally believed me when we hit the fence and had to turn around. Very pretty walk/Bike/run.

Great trail but remember it doesn’t wrap around the lake, the gate is somehow closed at the 3mi mark. Also, remember that the gate closes at 6pm! Even if you get locked inside, park ranger isn’t going to rescue and help you!
