Highly recommend! Our dog got a stick lodged in his throat & we were frantic after our established Vet couldn't get us in for a week. They referred us to several "emergency" places that gave us the same runaround. My husband called VCA Covington & they were able to squeeze him in that day. Dr. Jamie, Stephanie & the entire staff were so kind & put us at ease immediately. Luckily, it was just a puncture wound & after quick sedation & flushing out, he's as good as new! We greatly appreciated their quick response, care & professionalism. Up front with pricing & more than reasonable for the care he received. Lesson learned with our "established" Vet, as this occurred on a Wednesday morning; not after hours or the weekend. We will be transferring care for our other dog here as well. Can't say enough great things about our experience here!

Had to put my dog down after 13 years. The several women who helped had the perfect balance of professionalism and loving on my dog. They showed true compassion to him in his final minutes. They petted and loved on him until his final moments. I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of people in a very bad time.

I just adopted 2 kittens and one of them started to appear sick after about a week, sneezing, sounding congested, sleeping a lot when she typically is hyper and playful & i took her to covington VCA and Dr Publicover was AMAZING. Not only did she treat my cat as affectionately as I do but she also took the time to explain to me what I should be aware of when dealing with a kitten with a URI. She explained several medications to me and told me her recommendations and how to administer the medication and what to do if symptoms got worse. I was provided the medication, syringe and a complementary dose of flea and tick prevention medication for her. Additionally, the follow up care was beyond what I've experienced, even from my own doctor lol. I received a phone call every single day regarding my cat and how she was doing/tolerating medicine/improving and asked if I had any questions or additional concerns, especially on Fridays as they would be closed over the weekend. I can't say enough good things about this place and I'm so happy to have both my kittens registered to receive routine care from Covington VCA.

They are extremely helpful and committed to your pet having the least stressful time possible. Both of my dogs have needed vet care and this place has friendly staff and knowledgeable assistants and vets. The prices are reasonable and they don’t push anything on you. L

Questions & Answers

How much is the cat neuter

Usually VCA runs $250 and up on those kinds of procedures. They quoted me ~$320 for a simple cat neuter without complications. You're better off finding a spay neuter clinic such as NW Spay Neuter Clinic or The Spay Station or Seattle Humane Society. Since that's all they do, they're really good at it, plus it is way more cost effective. Tacoma Humane has a low income voucher as well, and there are other vets that will do a payment plan. Just do more research and don't be a victim of highway robbery.

Hey I was wondering how old you have to be to volunteer here?(if you take volunteers)

Typically vet offices don't utilize volunteers due to the need for background checks and liability if someone were to be injured by a fractious animal. You might call the clinic itself to ask directly. Most of the time, the best any vet office can do for you is to set up a job shadow or interview to ask about the ins and outs of the jobs they do. If you want to work around animals, you might look into volunteering for a local small animal rescue or county animal shelter, they ALWAYS need volunteers.

A quote of $320 probably included more than just the procedure.

I was quoted that for the neuter, their required pre-op exam, the e collar, and the general anesthesia used during the surgery.

I have been a pet parent for the last 4 yrs and have been going to the federal way VCA. I live in renton. Im thinking covington is closer. Do i need to register my petpet at this location? How much is a rabies vaccination? o

You will, as they operate as separate hospitals with separate Doctors. However, they can get your records from the other VCA no problem. We found this out when we moved from CA to WA. Always went to Yuba City, CA VCA, and Covington was able to get the records for our pupp from them electronically. Also, you'll really like the Covington staff. They are top notch!

Yes. They will check out everything in the free visit. However, any procedure or medications or vaccinations would be charged.
