Loved this hike down into the bottoms. Although dry, so many things were in bloom. I was able to see many birds of prey and songbirds. The path is loose gravel or dirt and walking can be a balancing act in a few places.

The scenery was gorgeous , The entirely trail have not have trees so there is so much direct sun light. Well maintained and many options, Beautiful hills. Lots of spots to capture great photos. There is so many options all of them with different levels. Parking was free at the shopping center.

Nice short day hikes of varying intensity that mixes shaded riparian canyon areas with semi-arid chapparel. You do need to be careful of the mountain bikes on some trails but most everyone is courteous. Nice views of the Santa Ana Mountains. Bring water... There is one water stop but works intermittently based upon water pressure.

No. Camping is not allowed in the park. Also dogs are not allowed. (Though riding horses is OK.)
Whiting is likely to be closed for weeks. There's a lot of water damage to the trails. The rangers are asking for the publics help with trail maintenance. Please respect the closed trails! Update 3/17/19: Whiting is now partially open.
Thanks Paul. But i went there on 06/03/20 and was close by all trails, I try all of them. But there was closed.
It is just hiking and biking trails. For camping or grilling, you may want to check out O'Neill Regional park or Irvine Regional Park.
No, and there is a sign posted declaring this.
Should be open.
The park opens at 7:00am and closes at sunset.
No there is no fishing, no bodies of water within the park itself. There are other areas around Whitting where fishing is permitted I believe. Irvine lake unfortunately is closed though.
I would definitely call and ask if you can ... Call the oc parks and rec. My first guess is NO
Parking lot is full on most of time so I park shopping lot cross street, no parking fee there
Yes but it can get slightly rough in some parts depemsing on the trail you take. When I went on a hike here there was a young couple hiking with their baby on a stroller. They seemed like they were pretty fit so it must've not been a problem for them
Most of the trails you are not permitted to bring along pets, in general. You most likely can get away with it, but sometimes there are officers and other managers nearby.
