A nice peaceful camp site, close to the city. You get the experience of camping without going too far from the city

Great place to camp for families. Most of the sites have trees to provide shade as well as a water spigot. Every site has a firepit, picnic table with benches as well as parking for at least 2 standard vehicles. There are 3 well-maintained restroom buildings each with toilets, sinks and showers. The nature center is only open on weekends and is run by volunteers. Adjacent to the nature center is an amazing playground structure. The sand in the playground was kept clean of any debris as we could see that it had been recently raked. Every park ranger we interacted with was very friendly. The park no longer has firewood for sale so please read their guidelines on what you can bring in.

It has great trails with great views. There are benches in about each turn until you reach on top of the hill.

Yes, my daughter is physically challenged, i am an out of shape middle aged man, and my good friend is 70 years young and we all have a wonderful time trekking through these trails.
Wandering off the trails will find you in pretty dense brush amongst the trees in some areas. They do trim trees and shrubs around parking lots, playgrounds, trails, etc., But it is otherwise good ole' Southern California wilderness.
Are piñatas allowed
If you pay by card it'll be refunded in 72 hours. If cash, they have to issue a check by mail. That takes about 2 weeks.
After we went camping in April, we drove through the campsites and write down the campsites we would prefer next time based on shade and closeness to water spouts. 58, 57, 54, 53, 21, 27, 28, 34, 35 are the shoes we would try for next time; especially if we're there in the summer when it's warmer.
You have to pay $20 per night to tent camp here and it's a campground. No way to really "wilderness camp".
Overnight camping is fine. Not sure about a day tent but I don't imagine it would be a problem.
Pretty standard size and Smart and Final is close by if you need to get a table cloth.
Oc parks has a website or you can call them and make one. Every site is different depending on your needs so feel free to ask questions. Weekends are booked to end of June already though
No, but some sites do accept RV's. They have one dump station, and there is water at various spots throughout the park. No electric, generators are ok unless quite hours.
Yes...get there early. 7 is good
You will have wifi in the campground.... Super nice place to get away from ....and relaxing
Thank you all for your help. As it turned out I went just down the street to the Trabuco General Store. They refilled my propane tanks for $3.29 gallon. A very nice little county store.
You can fly just a few miles from O'Neill...https://g.co/kgs/wx7TB5

The whole area is primo hiking! Ask the Park Ranger they really are the best at what locations are accessible at the time you are there. Enjoy! Located just outside the park is the awesome Rose Cantina! Be sure to stop by there.
3 dollars Monday through Friday and 5 dollars Saturday through Sunday
Yes...just be responsible about what is played in public & volume. Great place for kids or family outings.
No they don't.
They do have showers and bathrooms but they don't have laundromat. .
Yrs permit reservation required
I am sure you probably could, but: 1) the creek is usually dry and 2) There isn't a gold vein around here
Yes, it is. But also be aware that there are natural wildlife that live in the park as well.
No
I didn't know there was a broken line. I was just there last Friday.
Sorry to say they do not allow jumpers. Irvine park does though.
Not open fires but the campsites have fire pits and the rangers have wood bundles to sell at the park entrance
Yes. Every single campsite has a fire-pit. The campsites are very well managed. At some locations at O'niell, they have free Wi-Fi.
