Kind of cool place for free camping, but when we were there, so were dozens of big family groups with their huge equipment, music, etc. Didnt find it very relaxing.

Very nice drive through the area with areas throughout where you can camp, fish, and take your dirt bikes/atv/side by side. Any vehicle can access this area and camp. Earlier on the road is paved, later on the road is smooth sand. There might be areas that need AWD and high clearance vehicle, but we did not explore far enough. I will be back again to camp at the river.

Amazing and surreal for being conveniently located. Beautiful and stunning views.

A big part of California's gold mining history. Both placer and quartz mining were practiced here.

Currently it is not. BLM still has it closed.
Nope.
Not currently. The California Campfire Permit only covers propane stoves (or other things with a valve). Despite the name of the permit all wood and charcoal burning is prohibited on BLM lands in Keysville. You can call the BLM Bakersfield Office for details of check their website.
You do not need a reservation, it's an almost public place, but you can find a better place.
If you don't like the weather wait an hour or two.
This weekend is the unofficial end of summer and probably the busiest time of year. After this weekend most campgrounds will be closed throughout the state. If the camp ground is open, and it probably is, it's probably full.
Make sure to go to keyville north once there follow the road that leads inside once u reach a small bulletin board and a large trash can turn left and follow that road then enjoy
Is the campground open for camping?
Not here, there is enough space ... and if in case it is filled there is another larger one at the entrance of the place
Water is low
Open to the public at no charge allowed up too 14 days then you have to move there is a north a south entrance u will enjoy it trust me
Yes, it is. I was just there last weekend.
No you don't. You can camp for up to two weeks. It's a awesome place and you can pan for gold.
