Yes I'm a zoo science student with Friends University and the staff at the zoo loves and provides for each of the animals needs. This is a zoo that is loved by all in the community.
Yes, they do a lot of work to ensure the animals are well cared for. They are constantly renovating to make the enclosures better. If they find that they don't have the resources to properly care for animals, they take them off exhibit, like they recently did for the baboons. The troop grew too big for the enclosure, so they were all relocated to another facility.
Great zoo, animals well taken care of as far as I can tell.

Can we ride on any elephants
No. Several exhibits didnt have water available in 90+° heat, and animals were visibly overheated. Had to alert nearby caretakers, some of which were either standing around doing nothing or texting. Also many of the animals were obviously bored, with some displaying symptoms of anxiety. Just another zoo made to Loom good but really isnt.
